A House Built On Secrets

The Maid Saved His Daughter After The Stepmother Lied

The morning light poured through the large glass windows of the grand Sterling estate.

David Sterling adjusted his tie in the mirror while thinking about his busy morning schedule.

He had spent years building his real estate company into a major success.

After losing his first wife, his young daughter Lily became his entire world.

Six months ago, David married Vanessa, a former model with big expensive ambitions.

Vanessa loved the huge home, the luxury cars, and the high social status.

However, she had very little patience for six-year-old Lily.

Maria, the quiet housemaid, noticed the uncomfortable tension every single day.

Maria had worked for the family for over five whole years.

She cared deeply for little Lily and protected her like her own child.

Maria: Your breakfast is ready on the dining table, Lily.

Lily: Thank you, Maria, you make the best pancakes.

Vanessa walked down the hallway wearing a bright orange designer dress.

She glared at the little girl sitting at the table.

Vanessa: You are making a mess with that sticky syrup again.

Lily: I am sorry, Vanessa, I will be clean.

Vanessa: Learn to use your napkin properly like a civilized child.

Maria quickly stepped forward to wipe the table with a soft towel.

Maria: I will clean it up immediately, ma'am.

Vanessa rolled her eyes and turned toward David as he entered.

Vanessa: David darling, we need to discuss our vacation to Paris.

David: I have two major board meetings today, Vanessa.

Vanessa: You always put your work before my personal needs.

David: I work hard to provide this life for our family.

David kissed Lily on the top of her head with affection.

David: Be a good girl for Maria today, sweetie.

Lily: I will, Daddy, come home early tonight!

David grabbed his leather briefcase and walked toward the front door.

Vanessa watched him leave with a cold, unsatisfied look on her face.

She hated feeling second best to a small child.

Maria saw the sharp anger hidden behind Vanessa's bright smile.

She knew that today would be another difficult day at the house.
