Angelo leaned down close to Clara in the sunlit room.
"Tell me why you really knocked that glass away," Angelo asked gently.
Clara looked down at the sparkling glass pieces on the floor.
She knew telling the truth could cost her job and safety.
"I saw someone put powdered chemical inside that drink," Clara whispered.
Angelo froze instantly as cold shock ran through his body.
"Who put something in the glass?" Angelo asked softly.
Clara pointed her hand toward Chloe's brother standing nearby.
The young man turned pale and tried to walk away fast.
Angelo called out to the mansion security guards immediately.
Two large guards stepped up and blocked the exit doors.
Chloe's brother panicked and tried to push his way out.
"Hold him right there!" Angelo shouted firmly across the hall.
The guards grabbed the man's arms and held him tight.
Guests backed away in fear as the truth began coming out.
Angelo walked over to the broken glass on the floor.
He noticed a strange white film coating the spilled liquid.
It was clear that a dangerous substance had been mixed inside.
Chloe stood frozen as her brother struggled against the guards.
"He was trying to frame you, sir," Clara explained quietly.
"He wanted to blame your family for a medical emergency," she added.
They wanted to ruin the family reputation for financial gain.
Angelo realized Clara had sacrificed her dignity to protect them.
She knew she would be blamed, but she acted anyway.
Angelo felt a deep sense of respect for the brave young maid.
He looked at Chloe, who was backing toward the front entrance.
"You knew about this plan, didn't you?" Angelo asked coldly.
Chloe stuttered nervously and could not give a straight answer.
Her silent reaction proved her full involvement in the plot.
Angelo realized how close his family had come to absolute ruin.
He owed everything to the honest maid standing beside him.
