The heavy legal folder drifted rapidly through the air toward the cold floor below.
Sarah did not hesitate for a single second as she dashed down the stairs.
Her shoes slid across the smooth white marble floor of the grand foyer.
She stretched her arms out completely as she dove forward with total determination.
The edge of the folder brushed against her fingertips just inches above the tiles.
Sarah clutched the precious documents tightly against her chest as she landed safely.
She took a deep breath while hugging the folder securely in her arms.
Sarah: I got them! The legal papers are completely safe!
Victoria stared down from the upper balcony in absolute shock and furious disbelief.
Her hands trembled against the golden railing as she glared at the housemaid.
Victoria: Hand those papers over to me right now, you foolish girl!
Sarah: No! These belong to Mr. Sterling and his innocent baby boy!
Sarah stood up quickly and tucked the thick folder under her dark maid apron.
She looked up at the woman who was now rushing down the curved staircase.
Victoria's green satin dress rustled loudly against the gleaming marble steps.
Victoria: You have no right to interfere with family business in this home!
Sarah: My duty is to protect this family from anyone who wants to hurt them.
The heavy front double doors of the mansion suddenly burst open with great force.
Richard Sterling stepped inside wearing his dark burgundy suit after returning early from work.
He stopped near the large American flag hanging on the bright white wall.
His sharp eyes quickly swept across the tense scene in the middle of his foyer.
Richard: What on earth is happening in my house right now?
Sarah pointed directly up at Victoria, who froze on the bottom step.
Sarah: Sir! She just tried to destroy your baby's trust fund papers!
Richard's jaw dropped as he looked from Sarah to his nervous wife.
Richard: Is this the truth, Victoria? Explain yourself this instant!
Victoria stumbled over her words as her face turned completely pale with fear.
Victoria: She is lying to you! The maid is trying to set me up!
Sarah pulled the official folder from her apron and handed it to Richard.
Sarah: Check the signature on the seal, Mr. Sterling. It was tucked in her pocket.
Richard opened the folder and recognized his late wife's original trust fund signature.
His face grew dark with intense anger as he looked at Victoria.
Richard: How could you betray my son and my trust like this?
