Restoring Integrity To The Estate

Silence settled over the penthouse conference room. I picked up my warm tea, taking a slow sip while looking out the floor-to-ceiling windows at the bustling city below.

Arthur: Miss Vance, who would you like to appoint as interim general manager for this property?

Coat Woman: Call Sarah from the front desk operations team. She has been with this hotel for eight years and has maintained an immaculate record.

Arthur: Sarah? The assistant operations manager who works the night shift?

Coat Woman: Yes. Promote her to General Manager immediately, with a fifty percent salary increase and full executive authority over property operations.

Arthur: A brilliant choice, Miss Vance. She knows every inch of this building and treats every guest like royalty.

Coat Woman: That is the standard my father set, Arthur. We build luxury on genuine service, not arrogant titles.

Ten minutes later, Sarah stepped into the conference room, looking nervous as she smoothed down her neat black blazer.

Sarah: Miss Vance... you wanted to see me?

Coat Woman: Sit down, Sarah. I have some news for you.

I slid the new employment contract across the table toward her, pointing to the title line at the top of the page.

Coat Woman: Effective today, you are the new General Manager of Vance Luxury Hotel Concourse.

Sarah stared at the paper, her eyes filling with tears of shock and gratitude as she covered her mouth with both hands.

Sarah: General Manager?! Miss Vance... are you serious?!

Coat Woman: You earned this position, Sarah. I saw how kindly you treated the elderly couple in the lobby earlier while Brandon was parading his fiancée around.

Sarah: I... I don't even know how to thank you, Miss Vance!

Coat Woman: You can thank me by making sure no guest ever feels unwelcome or small inside my hotel ever again.

Sarah: I promise you on my life, Miss Vance! This hotel will be run with absolute respect, warmth, and excellence!

Coat Woman: That is all I ever ask.

Sarah signed the contract with a shaking hand, wiping a tear of joy from her cheek before shaking my hand firmly.

I walked back down to the grand lobby an hour later, now wearing a dry charcoal gray designer suit provided by the hotel boutique.

The marble floor was spotless, wiped clean by a attentive staff member, and the crystal chandeliers sparkled overhead in all their glory.

As I stepped toward the sliding glass doors to head to my waiting sedan, Sarah stood at the front desk, smiling warmly as she greeted checking-in families with genuine grace.

I smiled to myself, feeling a profound sense of pride and peace in my heart.

Money and titles could buy expensive clothes and sparkling engagement rings, but true authority came from standing up for what was right, protecting one's legacy, and treating every human being with dignity and honor.
