Confronting Eleanor

At two o'clock sharp, the heavy front doors of the mansion opened downstairs. The sharp clicking of high heels echoed across the marble foyer as Eleanor Sterling marched into the estate, wearing a tight grey designer suit, flanked by two corporate lawyers carrying leather briefcases.

Eleanor: Marcus! Where are the custody release papers?! The board meeting starts in one hour!

Marcus stepped out onto the second-floor balcony, looking down at his mother standing on the marble floor below. His face was pale, but his voice was cold and steady.

Marcus: There are no custody release papers, Mother.

Eleanor: What do you mean there are no papers?! Did the nanny refuse to sign the transfer forms?

Marcus: The nanny is Sarah's twin sister, Eleanor. And she is the primary legal trustee of Leo's estate.

Eleanor's face stiffened, her eyes widening in sudden shock before she forced a sharp, dismissive laugh.

Eleanor: Don't be ridiculous, Marcus! Sarah had no legal standing to appoint an outside trustee! My lawyers drafted the primary trust agreement!

Clara walked out onto the balcony beside Marcus, holding the sleeping infant wrapped in a soft white blanket. She looked down at Eleanor with complete composure.

Clara: Your primary trust agreement was overridden by the state probate court this morning, Mrs. Sterling.

Eleanor: You! How dare you step foot into my family's mansion! Security! Throw this woman out!

Marcus: Nobody is touching Clara, Mother. Security, stand down.

The two estate security guards near the front entrance kept their positions, ignoring Eleanor's command.

Eleanor: Marcus! Have you lost your mind?! She is a common nurse trying to steal forty percent of Sterling Global!

Marcus: She didn't steal anything, Mother. You stole four months of my son's life by lying to me about Sarah's hospital records!

Eleanor: Sarah was a weak girl who didn't understand the responsibilities of a corporate family!

Clara: Sarah understood your greed perfectly, Eleanor. That's why she recorded every phone call you made to her hospital room during her final week.

Eleanor froze. The color drained from her face as Clara pulled a small digital audio recorder from her pocket, pressing the play button.

A sharp, familiar voice echoed clearly through the marble foyer speaker system.

"If you don't sign those trust shares over to my foundation before the delivery, Sarah, I will make sure Marcus never sees a single dollar of his inheritance, and you'll be left with nothing in a county hospital."

The entire foyer fell dead silent. The two corporate lawyers standing beside Eleanor looked at each other, immediately stepping back away from her side.

Lawyer A: Mrs. Sterling... is that recording authentic?

Eleanor: That... that recording is an AI fabrication! It's illegal!

Clara: It was verified by the state prosecutor's office two hours ago, Eleanor. Along with the hospital security footage from four months ago.
