The Confrontation

The Hidden Vent That Revealed Her Stepmother's Darkest Secret

Clara ran into the library room after hearing the loud commotion.

She saw her small daughter standing near the door crying softy.

She gasped and quickly dropped to her knees to hug Lily.

Clara: Oh my sweet girl, are you okay?

Lily: Mommy, the bad lady was mean to us!

Clara: Mister Adrian, what is happening in this library today?

Adrian: Victoria has been lying to all of us, Clara.

Adrian held up the legal papers for everyone to see clearly.

Victoria tried to grab the folder directly out of his hand.

Adrian stepped back easily and kept the documents away from her.

Victoria: You have no right to look through my private things!

Adrian: You hid them inside my home under my own floor!

Victoria: I built this life with you, you owe me!

Adrian: You built nothing but a web of dangerous deceit.

Victoria pointed an angry finger toward Clara and her daughter.

Victoria: You are taking the word of a poor maid's child!

Adrian: That little child has more honesty than you ever showed.

Adrian pulled his phone out of his dark suit jacket pocket.

He dialed his family attorney's personal number on speaker mode.

Attorney: Hello Adrian, how can I help you today?

Adrian: I need you to contact the police immediately, Robert.

Victoria: Adrian, no! Do not call the authorities on me!

Adrian: I have found proof of financial fraud inside my house.

Attorney: I will have officers at your estate in ten minutes.

Victoria panicked and tried to run toward the open hallway doors.

Adrian stepped in front of the doorway and blocked her exit.

Adrian: You are not going anywhere until the officers arrive.

Victoria: You cannot keep me locked inside this room!

Adrian: Watch me protect my home and my family today.

Victoria backed up against the desk, her face filled with rage.

She looked at little Lily, who was safe in Clara's arms.

The tiny girl was no longer crying or feeling afraid now.

She held her mother's hand tightly as they stood together.

The loud sound of distant sirens began to echo outside.
