Within ten minutes, the sharp sound of police sirens echoed down the long private mansion driveway.
Red and blue emergency lights flashed brightly through the tall arched windows of the grand foyer.
Four uniformed police officers marched up the front steps, led by a tall stern chief detective.
"Who called for emergency assistance at this location?" Chief Detective Miller asked in a loud voice.
Arthur walked forward calmly, holding little Lily securely in his left arm while holding papers.
"I am Arthur Sterling, and my housemaid uncovered a terrible crime inside my home," Arthur stated.
He handed the stack of fraudulent insurance documents directly to the lead police detective right away.
"My wife locked my nine-year-old daughter inside a hidden wall compartment behind an oil portrait," Arthur explained.
Detective Miller examined the thick legal documents carefully, his brow furrowing with deep legal concern.
"These are fraudulent life insurance policies with forged signatures," Detective Miller noted with grave tone.
He looked over toward Victoria, who was being held firmly by the two private security guards.
"Victoria Sterling, you are under formal arrest for child endangerment and massive financial fraud," Miller declared.
An officer stepped forward with heavy steel handcuffs and secured Victoria's shaking wrists behind her back.
"This is a complete misunderstanding! My husband is making up these ridiculous stories!" Victoria shrieked wildly.
"The evidence is right here in these official documents and secret wall compartments," Miller replied coldly.
Elena stepped forward politely and pointed toward the heavy oil painting still hanging open wide.
"The hidden compartment is right behind that frame, officer," Elena explained to the crime scene investigators.
Two forensic police officers stepped closer with flashlights to examine the dark interior wall hollow space.
They found small fabric threads from Lily's clothing and clear fingerprints left on the frame latch.
"Everything matches the child's statement completely," the forensic officer confirmed to Chief Detective Miller.
Victoria was led down the grand marble staircase in cold heavy handcuffs, weeping tears of defeat.
The high-society stepmother who sought ultimate wealth was now heading straight toward a cold prison cell.
As the police car doors slammed shut outside, a profound quiet returned to the grand estate.
Arthur turned to face Elena, his eyes filled with immense gratitude and deep humble emotion.
"You saved my daughter's life today, Elena," Arthur said with a warm sincerity in his voice.
"I was just doing my duty to protect a child in danger," Elena replied with modest dignity.
"You did far more than your duty, and this family will never forget it," Arthur replied deeply.
