Elena walked toward Sarah with quick and aggressive steps.
Her velvet dress rustled loudly against the polished hardwood floor.
"You are an employee in this home," Elena snapped angrily.
"You have no right to open doors that belong to me."
Sarah stood her ground despite her pounding heart inside her chest.
The child burred her face deep into Sarah's soft shoulder.
"Locking a child in a wall is a serious crime, Mrs. Sterling."
Elena raised her hand and pointed toward the back stairs.
"Hand the girl to me and pack your bags right now."
"No," Sarah said firmly, refusing to surrender the little girl.
Elena stepped closer and tried to grab the child's arm.
Sarah turned her body quickly to shield the frightened toddler.
"Do not touch her," Sarah warned in a steady tone.
Elena glared furiously as her face flushed bright red with anger.
"You do not understand what is happening here, Sarah."
"Then explain why a toddler was hidden behind a painting."
Elena took a deep breath and glanced toward the open door.
"She is my late husband's secret daughter from another marriage."
Sarah stared at the wealthy woman in complete disbelief.
"Her name is Lily," Elena admitted with a cold voice.
"The court gave full custody of the estate to me."
"That does not give you the right to hide her away."
Elena stepped back and adjusted her expensive gold bracelet.
"If the public learns about her, the family trust changes."
"The money goes directly into a child safety fund instead."
Sarah realized the truth behind Elena's cruel actions instantly.
Elena wanted to hide the child to keep control of the money.
"You are keeping her hidden to protect your inheritance fund."
Elena smiled coldly and did not deny the serious accusation.
"No one will believe a maid over me, Sarah."
"The authorities will listen to the truth," Sarah replied back.
Sarah reached into her apron pocket to grab her mobile phone.
Elena moved fast and snatched the phone out of Sarah's hand.
The phone dropped onto the thick rug with a quiet thud.
Sarah backed toward the main staircase while holding little Lily.
"You cannot keep us trapped in this house," Sarah said.
Elena stepped between Sarah and the front entry doors.
"You are not leaving this mansion with that child today."
