Two tall men dressed in dark formal suits stepped inside the foyer.
They wore black gloves and carried a heavy leather transport stretcher between them.
The man leading the pair pulled off his black cap and bowed slightly.
Man in suit: We are here to collect Mrs. Evelyn Bennett's remains.
The silence in the grand foyer was deafening and extremely heavy.
Carter turned around slowly to face the two mortuary workers at the entry.
The grand American flag stood proudly behind them on the white wall.
Carter: Who sent you to this private address today, sir?
Man in suit: A woman named Chloe called our office two hours ago.
Man in suit: She stated that Mrs. Bennett passed away peacefully in her sleep.
Carter looked over at Chloe, who was backing away toward the staircase.
Carter: Does my mother look like a deceased person to you, gentlemen?
The mortuary worker looked past Carter and saw Evelyn lying on the floor.
He saw her chest rising and falling slowly as she breathed softly.
Man in suit: Sir, that woman is clearly alive and breathing right now.
Carter: Exactly, and my girlfriend here tried to trick your company.
Man in suit: This is a very serious federal crime, young lady.
Chloe turned around and tried to sprint up the grand marble stairs.
Elena stepped in front of the stair railing and blocked the path.
Elena: You are not running away from what you did, Chloe.
Chloe: Get out of my way, you pathetic little maid!
Carter grabbed Chloe's arm firmly before she could push Elena down.
Carter: It is completely over for you, Chloe.
Chloe: Carter, please, we can work this out together right now!
Carter: You locked up my staff and tried to murder my mother.
Chloe: I loved you, Carter, I did everything for our luxury life!
Carter pulled his cell phone out again and dialed three quick numbers.
Carter: I am calling the police department to arrest you immediately.
