Prosecutor Vance: Officers, secure Miss Reed. We need to review the surveillance footage in the security office immediately.
Evelyn: That footage is private property! You need a signed warrant to access the mansion servers!
Marcus: I signed the warrant consent form five minutes ago, Evelyn. I am the sole owner of the Sterling security network.
Evelyn: Marcus, don't do this! Think about what this will do to the company's stock price tomorrow morning!
Marcus: Investors like honesty, Evelyn. Stock prices recover when bad actors are removed from leadership.
The two officers stepped up beside Evelyn, pulling her arms behind her back as the cold steel handcuffs clicked loudly around her wrists. The red silk dress crumpled around her waist as she thrashed against their grip.
Evelyn: Let go of me! Do you know who my father is? My father is a senior partner at Reed & Associates!
Prosecutor Vance: Your father disowned your firm's power of attorney two weeks ago, Miss Reed. He's currently cooperating with our fraud investigation.
Evelyn: What? My father spoke to you?!
Prosecutor Vance: He handed over the bank receipts for the Panama shell company yesterday afternoon. He knew what you were planning.
Evelyn let out a sharp cry, her legs giving out as the officers held her upright on the slick marble floor. Guests cleared a wide path as she was escorted down the center aisle toward the grand entrance.
Guest C: To think we almost voted her onto the charity board.
Guest D: She belongs in a maximum-security prison for what she did to that little boy.
Marcus turned away from the scene and walked quickly down the rear stairwell toward the private medical suite. The door opened to reveal Leo sitting on an examination table, holding a small ice pack against his bruised cheek while Beatrice stroked his hair.
Marcus: How is he doing, Mom?
Beatrice: The doctor said there's no fracture, but the swelling will take a few days to go down.
Marcus: Leo... come here, buddy.
Leo set the ice pack down and reached his arms out as Marcus lifted him into a warm, tight embrace. Marcus buried his face in his son's shoulder, his voice cracking with emotion.
Marcus: I am so sorry, Leo. I am so sorry I brought that woman into our home.
Leo: It's okay, Dad. I knew she was lying about the baby weeks ago.
Marcus: How did you know, son?
Leo: I saw her take the foam cushion out of her closet last month when she thought I was sleeping. And she never let me hear the baby's heartbeat.
Marcus: You were braver than anyone in that hall tonight, Leo. You saved our family from a complete disaster.
Beatrice: He certainly did. Now we need to make sure she never comes near this estate again.
Marcus: She won't, Mom. Prosecutor Vance is filing for a permanent restraining order alongside the felony charges tonight.
