Uncovering The Inheritance Plot

Evelyn: Marcus, please... step into the private office with me. We can settle this without the police!

Marcus: You aren't stepping foot into my private office ever again, Evelyn.

Evelyn: I am your fiancée! I have a signed agreement for the guest wing!

Marcus: That agreement was contingent on an authentic marriage and full honesty. You breached every contract you ever touched.

Beatrice stepped forward, holding Leo's hand as two private estate guards walked briskly across the marble floor toward the stage.

Beatrice: Marcus, the paramedics are downstairs to check Leo's cheek. The slap left a severe bruise.

Marcus: Take him down to the medical suite, Mom. I'll be right behind you as soon as security removes this woman.

Evelyn: You can't remove me! My personal belongings are in the master suite!

Marcus: Your personal belongings are being packed into boxes right now by the staff, Evelyn.

Evelyn: You had no right to go into my room!

Marcus: I had every right. It's my mansion, my estate, and my family name that you attempted to destroy.

Evelyn: You think you're so clean, Marcus? What about the offshore accounts your lawyer set up for the merger?

Marcus: Those accounts were set up under your recommendation, Evelyn. And my forensic team audited them three hours ago.

Evelyn froze, her red silk dress shifting as she clutched her arm, her eyes widening in pure panic.

Evelyn: What... what audit?

Marcus: The audit that revealed you transferred two million dollars from the Sterling Global charity account into a shell company in Panama yesterday morning.

Evelyn: That was an investment allocation!

Marcus: That was grand larceny. And my corporate lawyers filed the federal indictment twenty minutes ago.

Evelyn: You... you reported me to the federal prosecutor?

Marcus: The prosecutor is sitting right over there by the fountain, Evelyn. And he brought two federal marshals with him.

A tall man in a dark grey suit stepped out from the crowd of guests, accompanied by two uniformed officers carrying leather document folders.

Prosecutor Vance: Evelyn Reed? I am Assistant District Attorney Vance.

Evelyn: Mr. Vance! This is a private family matter regarding a prenuptial disagreement!

Prosecutor Vance: Falsifying corporate records, embezzlement of trust fund assets, and physical assault on a minor are not private family matters, Miss Reed.

Evelyn: The boy stabbed me with a needle! I reacted in self-defense!

Prosecutor Vance: He popped a foam cushion attached to your waist, Miss Reed. That hardly constitutes an armed attack.

Marcus: Hand over the house keys, Evelyn.

Evelyn reached into her designer clutch purse, her hands shaking violently as she pulled out a heavy silver keycard and tossed it onto the marble floor.

Evelyn: Take your stupid keys! I never wanted to live in this miserable house anyway!

Marcus: You wanted the money. But you're leaving with handcuffs instead.
