The bright hospital lights buzzed quietly above the hallway.
David sat on the hard plastic chair outside the room.
Chloe's father walked back and forth along the floor.
He held a thick white envelope inside his hands.
Father: The doctor says she has a broken shoulder bone.
David: But she is going to be okay, right?
Father: Yes, she will make a full and complete recovery.
The door swung open and the doctor stepped out.
Doctor: You young men can go in and see her now.
David walked inside the quiet room with a big breath.
Chloe sat on the high bed with a shoulder sling.
Her face looked pale, but her eyes were very bright.
Chloe: Did the police arrest Eleanor at the hall?
David: They took her away in handcuffs, my darling.
Father: And I signed the formal police complaint against her.
Her father walked over and placed the paper down.
It was the official deed to her mother's estate.
Father: This was always yours, my brave sweet daughter.
Father: I should have protected you from her years ago.
Chloe smiled softly as tears filled her bright eyes.
Chloe: Thank you for finally believing me today, Dad.
David grabbed her hand and pressed a warm kiss.
David: Our wedding party might be ruined for now.
David: But our life together starts right this second.
Chloe: We will have a tiny quiet wedding next month.
David: Just you and me, with no floral swings.
They both laughed softly in the quiet white room.
The dark threat over her life was finally gone.
