Eleanor leaned against David's strong arm, her body trembling from the sudden trauma.
Eleanor: I did not mean to ruin your wedding day, my sweet son.
David: You saved me from making the biggest mistake of my entire life today.
Carla stepped closer, her eyes blazing with sudden rage and extreme panic now.
Carla: What do you mean by that, David? The guests are sitting down now!
David: The wedding is off. There will be no ceremony today or ever.
Carla's face went completely pale as her jaw dropped open in pure shock.
Carla: You cannot cancel our wedding over a dirty street person from nowhere!
David: She is my mother, and you showed me your ugly heart today.
Carla: Think about our prenuptial agreement and the media coverage for your company!
David: I do not care about the media or your father's high-society friends.
David: I will never marry a woman who slaps a weak, defenseless person.
Carla grabbed her wedding dress train and stepped right in front of David.
Carla: My father invested millions into your commercial real estate project last month!
Carla: He will ruin your business and take back every dollar by tomorrow morning!
David: Let him try. I built my business once, and I can do it again.
David: I will pay back his investment money with full bank interest by noon.
Carla looked around the foyer, realizing that several church guests were watching now.
Her bridesmaids were standing near the sanctuary doors with their mouths wide open.
The disgrace and embarrassment hit Carla like a heavy physical blow to her chest.
Carla: David, please! We can give her some money and send her away!
David: She is not going away anywhere. She is coming home with me today.
David turned to the church coordinator who was standing near the front hallway office.
David: Please announce to the guests that the wedding has been officially canceled.
David: Tell them food will be served, but the marriage will not happen.
Carla let out a loud, high-pitched scream of utter frustration and anger inside.
She threw her flower bouquet onto the floor and stomped on the roses.
