The sudden heavy footsteps of silk heels echoed down the quiet hallway from the main lobby.
Evelyn stood at the edge of the corridor holding her trailing white gown off the clean floor.
Her face twisted into anger as she saw the young girl holding the heavy metal hammer.
Evelyn: What on earth do you think you are doing to this custom wooden door?
Lily: You put my grandmother in this dark closet so she would miss the entire ceremony!
Evelyn: Stop making such a ridiculous scene before all our wealthy guests arrive for photos!
Evelyn reached out and snatched the small iron hammer right from the young girl's shaking hands.
She stepped closer to the child with a stern glare across her carefully painted face.
Evelyn: Your grandmother is resting upstairs because she did not feel well enough to attend today.
Lily: That is a complete lie because she is shouting from behind this locked door!
Clara: Let me out of here right now, Evelyn!
Evelyn turned toward the door with a cold expression that the little girl had never seen before.
She smoothed down the expensive lace on her white bridal gown with calm calculated fingers.
Evelyn: Be quiet in there if you know what is good for this entire family!
Lily: You are a mean person and I am telling my father right this second!
Lily turned around on her heels and ran toward the bright lights of the main hallway.
Evelyn rushed after the child with quick steps while holding the heavy skirts of her dress higher.
Evelyn: Come back here right now before you ruin my perfect photo entry!
David was standing near the grand floral display talking to three business partners in dark suits.
Lily burst through the double doors crying loudly while clutching her red lace dress with both hands.
Lily: Daddy! Evelyn locked Grandma inside the closet behind the library under the stairs!
David: What are you talking about, Lily?
Lily: She put a key in the lock and hid Grandma away from everybody here!
David looked across the room and saw Evelyn standing by the hallway archway with a nervous smile.
His face grew pale as he saw the strange look written across his bride's frantic eyes.
David: Excuse me gentlemen, I need to check on something very important right now.
He stepped away from his friends and walked quickly toward the back wing of the estate.
Evelyn: David darling, please do not listen to a child who is just seeking attention today.
David: Get out of my way right now, Evelyn.
