Ethan: What is going on in here?
Margarethe: Ethan! Oh, thank goodness you're back early, darling!
Maya: Don't listen to her, Mr. Sterling!
Margarethe: Be quiet, you insolent servant! Ethan, this nanny was trying to steal Lily's golden bracelet!
Maya: That's a complete lie! She was dragging Lily out to the freezing courtyard!
Margarethe: Look at the girl, Ethan! She's throwing a tantrum, and this maid was enabling her!
Ethan: Margarethe, why is my daughter on the floor crying?
Margarethe: Because she tripped over her own dress, darling. I was simply trying to pick her up.
Lily: No, Daddy! Mommy Margarethe pinched my arm! She pushed Nanny Maya!
Margarethe: The child is confused, Ethan. You know how she makes up stories when she doesn't get her way.
Maya: Look at Lily's arm, Mr. Sterling! Look at the bruises!
Ethan took three rapid steps forward, his suit jacket swinging as he knelt down beside Maya and his daughter. His eyes widened as he saw the red finger marks imprinted on Lily's pale skin.
Ethan: Who did this to you, Lily?
Lily: Mommy Margarethe... she said I don't belong in the family business.
Margarethe: Ethan, please! You can't take the word of a child and a cheap nanny over your own wife!
Ethan: I am asking you a simple question, Margarethe. Did you put your hands on my daughter?
Margarethe: I was disciplining her! Someone has to raise her properly while you're at the boardroom meetings!
Maya: Disciplining her? You dragged her by her hair into the hallway!
Margarethe: Shut up, Maya! You're fired! Get out of my mansion right now!
Ethan: You don't fire anyone in my house, Margarethe.
Margarethe: Ethan, look at me! I'm your wife! I protect our family status!
Ethan: Is this how you protect my family? By abusing a motherless child?
Margarethe: She's a reminder of your ex-wife! She doesn't deserve the Sterling inheritance!
Maya: She's five years old! How can you be so cruel?
Margarethe: Mind your business, nanny! You're nothing in this city!
Ethan stood up slowly, his tall frame blocking the bright light of the chandelier. His face twisted with absolute fury as he glared down at his wife.
Ethan: You touched my daughter? You're finished!
