Later that afternoon, the house was quiet while David was attending important board meetings downtown.
Evelyn was organizing old family photo albums in the upper library near the marble staircase.
Chloe walked up the wide staircase holding a stack of legal documents in her hands.
Chloe: I have prepared these residence papers for you to sign right now.
Evelyn: What kind of legal papers are these, Chloe?
Chloe: They transfer your ownership rights of the estate to David and me.
Evelyn: I will never sign away my home to someone like you.
Chloe took a step forward, her gold sequin dress shimmering under the hallway chandelier light.
Chloe: You will sign them, or I will make your life miserable!
Evelyn: David would be heartbroken if he saw how you act.
Chloe: David listens to every word I say, old woman!
Chloe snatched Evelyn's wooden cane and tossed it far across the polished marble floor.
Evelyn stumbled backward against the wooden banister, clutching her chest in shock and fear.
Evelyn: Please, Chloe, just leave me alone.
Chloe: You are moving into an assisted living facility by next week!
Sarah heard the loud commotion from the lower lobby and ran quickly up the stairs.
She saw Chloe standing aggressively over Evelyn near the very top step of the staircase.
Sarah: Get away from her right now, Chloe!
Chloe: Stay out of this, Sarah, or you are fired!
Sarah: You have no authority to fire anyone in this house!
Sarah reached the top step and placed herself directly between Chloe and the frightened grandmother.
Chloe lunged forward to grab the papers back from Evelyn's trembling hands.
Sarah blocked Chloe's path firmly, protecting Evelyn from any physical harm or intimidation.
Sarah: Don't you ever dare to touch her again!
Chloe: How dare you lay a hand near my dress, maid!
Chloe raised her hand to push Sarah aside, but Sarah held her position with unwavering courage.
Down below, the heavy wooden front doors of the mansion swung open with a deep sound.
