Mark guided Clara safely into the study near the end of the hall.
He locked the heavy oak door to keep his daughter far from Evelyn.
The room was completely turned upside down with papers scattered across the desk.
Sarah's laptop was open on the wooden table with a blank black screen.
Mark walked over to the desk and checked the locked metal drawers beneath.
The top drawer lock was snapped open with clear tool marks along the edge.
Mark: She broke into our private safe while I was driving back.
He searched through the remaining files with quick heavy movements of his hands.
The original property trust fund papers were completely gone from the steel box.
Those papers protected Sarah's full inheritance from any outside family claim.
Without those documents, Evelyn could claim temporary control over all estate assets.
Mark pulled out his smartphone and dialed his family divorce lawyer immediately.
Mark: Arthur, I need emergency legal help at the house right now.
Arthur: What happened, Mark? Is Sarah okay?
Mark: Evelyn forced Sarah into a clinic and stole our property deed.
Arthur: Do not sign anything or leave the property until I arrive.
Mark hung up the phone and ran a hand through his messy hair.
He walked over to the large window overlooking the rear stone courtyard.
A black security guard was walking slowly along the edge of the property fence.
Mark realized Evelyn had hired extra security guards to control the perimeter line.
He opened the study door and stepped back out into the long hallway.
Evelyn was standing in the dining room pouring herself a glass of water.
Mark: Which facility did you take Sarah to, Evelyn?
Evelyn: That information is private between Sarah and her medical personal team.
Mark: I am her lawful husband with full healthcare power of attorney!
Evelyn took a slow sip from her glass and looked at Mark coldly.
Evelyn: Your authority was suspended when Sarah signed the new family trust form.
Mark: Sarah would never willingly sign away her rights to you!
Evelyn: People change their minds when pressure becomes too great to bear.
Mark took three quick strides toward the dining table with glaring eyes.
Mark: You threatened her with something to force that signature today!
Evelyn did not even flinch as Mark approached her across the floor.
Evelyn: You were always an outsider in this family's business, Mark.
Mark: I am the one protecting Sarah from your greedy corporate hands!
Evelyn: You brought no money into this marriage when you married her.
Mark: This was never about money for Sarah and me!
Evelyn placed her glass down on the polished wooden table with care.
Evelyn: Money is the only thing that keeps this mansion standing tall.
Clara stepped out of the study holding a small blue notebook tightly.
Clara: Daddy, I found Mom's daily journal under her pillow!
Evelyn's calm face shifted slightly as her eyes fell on the book.
Evelyn: Give that notebook to me right now, Clara!
Mark stepped directly between Evelyn and his young daughter in an instant.
Mark: You will not step one inch closer to my daughter again!
