Della looked up into Julian's dark eyes, her body shaking so violently that her breath came in short, jagged gasps. The white marble floor around them was scattered with deadly shards of mirror glass that caught the bright sunlight. Julian gently swept a few sharp pieces away from her feet so she would not get cut again.
Julian: Look at me, Della. Just look at me and breathe.
Della: Julian, the baby... I was so scared she was going to hurt our baby.
Julian: I am right here with you now. Nobody will ever lay a finger on you again in this house.
Victoria stood a few feet away, her mouth dropping open in total disbelief as she listened to the intimate words exchanged between them. She knew Della was just a humble maid who had been hired a few months ago to clean the mansion rooms. She had no idea that behind those closed doors, a powerful secret was hidden from the whole world.
Julian had secretly married Della six months ago in a quiet town hall ceremony away from the greedy eyes of high society. They had planned to announce their marriage and the news of their baby at the upcoming family gala next week. Della had insisted on continuing her work around the house because she hated sitting idle while Julian managed his company.
Victoria had arrived unannounced that morning, demanding to see Julian to discuss a failed business proposal her father had submitted. When Della asked her to wait politely in the lobby, Victoria had lost her temper and attacked her without mercy. She thought she was simply punishing an disrespectful servant who did not know her low status.
Julian stood up slowly, his body towering over the arrogant woman in the red silk dress. The warmth in his eyes vanished completely, replaced by a cold, deadly steel that made Victoria subconsciously take a step backward. His jaw was clenched so tight that the muscles in his face trembled with rage.
He turned his head toward the two tall security guards who were standing nervously at the main entrance of the hall. His voice sliced through the heavy silence of the room like a sharp knife, leaving no room for argument or delay.
Julian: Preserve the security camera footage immediately! Lock down every single file from the hall cameras right now!
Guard: Yes, Mr. Vance! Right away sir!
Victoria let out a high-pitched laugh, trying to cover up the sudden wave of fear that was washing over her arrogant heart. She crossed her arms tightly over her red dress and tapped her high heel against the polished marble floor.
Victoria: Are you serious, Julian? You are calling security over a clumsy housemaid who broke a mirror? My father will hear about this disrespect!
Julian: Your father will be the last person who can save you today, Victoria.
Victoria: She is just a servant! She bumped into me and ruined my dress!
Julian took one sudden step forward, closing the distance between them so quickly that Victoria gasped in surprise. His shadow fell over her face, blocking out the morning light that poured through the high mansion windows.
Julian: She is not just a servant in this house. She is my lawful wife and the mother of my child!
