Two months later, warm summer sunlight bathed the manicured green lawns of the Vance Estate. Children were laughing near the poolside garden, and soft acoustic music floated through the air. Mark and Sarah were hosting a private charity celebration and baby shower for their closest friends, family, and supporters who had stood by them through the long legal fight.
The estate mansion, once filled with tension and greed under Victoria's presence, now felt warm and welcoming. White floral arrangements adorned the patio tables, and the American flag flew proudly near the front gates under a clear blue sky.
Sarah sat comfortably on a plush outdoor sofa, wearing a beautiful yellow sun dress that highlighted her full bump. Mark walked over carrying two glasses of fresh lemonade. He sat down beside her and handed her a glass with a warm smile.
Mark: How is the guest of honor feeling today?
Sarah: Very happy, Mark. The baby is kicking like crazy right now.
Mark: He knows he's surrounded by love today.
Mark placed his hand gently over Sarah's stomach, feeling the firm push of their baby moving inside. It was a miracle that both Sarah and the baby had survived the terrible fall without lasting harm. The doctors had given them a completely clean bill of health last week.
David walked over to the patio with a bright smile on his face, holding a small wrapped gift box.
David: Mind if I join the party, boss?
Mark: David! Get over here. You're always welcome in this house.
David: Just got off the phone with the district attorney's office. Victoria accepted a plea deal this morning. Ten years in state prison without early parole for theft and assault.
Sarah: I hope she finds peace and learns her lesson while serving her time.
Mark: She won't ever harm anyone in our family again. That's what matters most.
David nodded respectfully, handed the gift box to Sarah, and walked over to join the other guests near the buffet. Mark pulled Sarah closer to his side, resting his chin gently on her shoulder as they watched the sun begin to set over the rolling hills of their property.
Sarah: What are we going to name him, Mark? We never actually finalized the middle name.
Mark: Arthur. After my dad. Because he made sure we were protected even when he wasn't here anymore.
Sarah: Arthur Vance. It sounds perfect.
They held hands tightly as the evening breeze rustled the leaves of the oak trees around them. The shadows of the dark past were completely gone, replaced by the bright promise of a new life and a strong family built on truth, real love, and lasting trust.
