The Final Confrontation

She Came To Our Holiday Dinner And Revealed Her Secret

The bright red and blue lights flashed softly outside the front window.

The local police car pulled up silently into the snow covered driveway.

Brenda backed against the front door, looking trapped and extremely angry.

She held her large leather bag like a shield against her chest.

Brenda: Tell them it was just a small misunderstanding between relatives!

Mark: No, I am telling them the complete truth about your fraud.

Sarah stood beside her husband, her eyes firm and filled with strength.

Baby Lily was completely quiet now, resting safely on Sarah's shoulder.

A knock sounded at the front door, loud and firm in the room.

Mark opened the door to reveal two tall uniformed police officers.

Officer Davis: Good evening, sir, we received a call about a disturbance.

Mark: Yes officer, my sister entered our home and attempted fraud.

Brenda tried to step past the officers onto the cold front porch.

The second officer stepped firmly into her path, blocking her exit route.

Officer Davis: Ma'am, please step back inside and stay right there.

Brenda: This is a private family matter, you have no authority!

Sarah: She also physically endangered our baby near the high chair.

Sarah pointed to the legal documents resting open on the table.

Officer Davis stepped over to inspect the official court foreclosure papers.

He saw the forged signature attempts on the debt transfer document pages.

Officer Davis: Ma'am, these papers show an active warrant for financial fraud.

Brenda's face dropped as the officer pulled out a pair of handcuffs.

She took a step back, but there was nowhere left to run.

Brenda: Mark, please tell them to stop, do not do this!

Mark: You chose this path when you tried to steal from us.

The officer turned Brenda around and placed her hands behind her back.

The cold metallic click of the handcuffs rang through the hallway clearly.

Brenda let out a bitter sob of pure frustration and anger combined.

Brenda: You ruined my life, Mark, I hope you are happy!

Mark: You ruined your own life the day you betrayed our trust.

The officers guided Brenda out the front door into the snow.

She stomped her boots bitterly while being escorted down the steps.

Mark watched from the open doorway as they placed her inside.

The police car door closed with a firm heavy click noise.

He shut the front door and locked it tightly with the deadbolt.

He took a deep breath of relief and turned to his family.

Mark: It is finally over, she cannot hurt us anymore tonight.

Sarah: Thank goodness you stood up to her when you did.
