The Unravelling Of The Plot

Julian: Mark! What's taking so long in here? The guests are all seated!

Julian pushed open the suite door, holding a silver tray with two champagne flutes. His face dropped the second he saw Mark standing over Victoria with his fists clenched.

Mark: Welcome to the party, Julian. We were just talking about your Las Vegas trip.

Julian: What... what are you talking about? What Las Vegas trip?

Victoria: I had to tell him, Julian. He knows about the bank audit.

Julian almost dropped the champagne flutes, his face turning as white as the silk drapes hanging behind the vanity.

Julian: Victoria! You promised you would handle him!

Mark: Handle me? Is that what I am to you two? A nuisance to be handled?

Julian: Mark, buddy, listen to me. Victoria is confusing things. She's the one who brought the forged papers into the house!

Victoria: Don't you dare throw me under the bus, Julian! You signed the notary book this morning!

Julian: Because you threatened to send the offshore transaction records to the district attorney!

Mark: Both of you shut your mouths right now!

Mark stepped between them, his posture tall and commanding in his grey suit. The two security guards backed toward the door, realizing that the situation was rapidly collapsing.

Mark: You two thought you were so clever, didn't you? Planning a grand Dallas wedding to distract everyone while you stole my father's legacy.

Julian: Mark, please. We're blood. We can fix this without calling the authorities.

Mark: You sold out your own blood for four million dollars, Julian.

Julian: I had no choice! They were going to break my legs, Mark!

Mark: You always have a choice. You chose to betray me.

Victoria: Mark, if you cancel this wedding now, the news press outside will destroy your family's reputation by tomorrow morning!

Mark: My family's reputation can survive a cancelled wedding, Victoria. It can't survive corporate fraud.

Victoria: What are you going to do?

Mark: I'm going to walk out to that ballroom, thank our guests for coming, and hand both of you over to the federal agents standing in the lobby.

Julian’s eyes widened in sheer panic. He reached into his suit jacket, pulling out a small flash drive.

Julian: You don't have the master files, Mark! I'm the only one who has the passwords to the offshore accounts!

Mark: You think I care about the offshore accounts right now?

Julian: That's forty million dollars of your family's money! If I destroy this drive, it's gone forever!

Before Julian could raise his hand, the suite door swung wide open again. Eleanor stood in the doorway, flanked by four uniformed Dallas police officers and two federal marshals.

Eleanor: He won't need to destroy anything, officer. That drive is evidence.

Officer 1: Julian Sterling and Victoria Miller, stay exactly where you are! Put your hands in the air!

Julian dropped the champagne flutes onto the carpet, the glass shattering instantly as liquid soaked into the white rug.

Victoria: Officers! This is a private dispute! You have no right to enter this dressing room!

Marshal: We have an arrest warrant signed by a federal judge thirty minutes ago, Miss Miller. Step away from the dress.
