Mark: Grandmother, take a deep breath. You're trembling.
Eleanor: I don't need to take a breath, Mark! You need to listen to me right now!
Mark: Victoria has been by my side for two years. She loves me.
Eleanor: She loves your family trust fund, Mark! She loves the Sterling name and this estate!
Mark: That’s impossible. Her father owns a private equity firm in New York.
Eleanor: Her father is in federal prison, Mark! His name isn't Vance, it's Miller!
Mark stepped back, pulling his arms away from his grandmother's tight grip. He adjusted the white rose boutonniere on his grey suit jacket, his brow furrowed in annoyance.
Mark: Why were you snooping around in her private room anyway?
Eleanor: I wasn't snooping! I went into the private office to find a spare handkerchief for your mother.
Mark: And you just happened to look through her personal belongings?
Eleanor: The briefcase was sitting wide open on the desk, Mark! The lock was broken!
Mark: That still doesn't give you the right to read her private papers.
Eleanor: I didn't have to read them! The front page had a mugshot of her father attached to a federal indictment paper!
Mark took a slow breath, looking down the brightly lit corridor toward the double doors of the bridal suite.
Mark: Lots of businessmen face legal trouble, Grandmother. That doesn't make Victoria a criminal.
Eleanor: She changed her legal last name three years ago, Mark! Why would she hide her real identity from you?
Mark: She probably didn't want people judging her for her family's mistakes.
Eleanor: And what about the prenuptial agreement on the table?
Mark: We already signed the prenup last week. Our lawyers handled everything.
Eleanor: Not the real one! The document in her bag is a forged property transfer that hands over your entire Dallas estate to her shell corporation the second you say I do!
Mark stopped moving, his eyes widening slightly as he stared at his grandmother's tear-stained face.
Mark: What did you just say?
Eleanor: I saw the forged land deed, Mark! It lists this mansion, your father's business accounts, and the family trust fund!
Mark: She couldn't transfer the estate without my personal signature and a public notary.
Eleanor: The notary seal is already stamped on the back page, Mark! Dated for this afternoon!
Mark: Who stamped it?
Eleanor: Julian! Your own best man and cousin!
Mark turned his head slowly toward the end of the hallway, where his cousin Julian was currently handing out programs to arriving guests while wearing a matching grey suit.
Mark: Julian wouldn't betray me. We grew up together in this house.
Eleanor: Julian owes four million dollars to overseas investors, Mark! He sold you out to save his own skin!
Mark: I'm going to talk to Victoria right now.
Eleanor: No, Mark! Don't go in there alone! She has two security guards standing at the door!
Mark: They work for my family, Grandmother.
Eleanor: They don't work for you anymore, Mark. I saw Julian hand them cash envelopes ten minutes ago.
Mark reached down and smoothed his tie, his handsome face hardening into a expression of quiet, dangerous resolve.
Mark: Walk back into the ballroom, Grandmother. Sit next to mother and keep quiet.
Eleanor: Mark, please! Call the police!
Mark: If what you say is true, a phone call won't be enough. I'm going to catch her in the act.
