David stood frozen in the middle of the hallway, looking down at the video feed and then back at Evelyn. The anger in his chest was visible as his breathing grew heavy and sharp. He had come close to doubting his own child because of the constant lies his new wife had fed him over the past few months.
David: You wanted me to cut Sarah out of the estate trust, didn't you?
Evelyn: David, darling, please... I was just stressed about the wedding preparations!
Sarah: Stress does not make a person frame an innocent girl for grand larceny, Evelyn.
Evelyn: I was doing what was best for our future! That child is spoiled and needs discipline!
David: Take that bracelet out of your jacket pocket right now.
Evelyn's hands trembled violently as she reached inside her silk jacket, pulling out the glittering diamond bracelet in front of fifty wealthy guests. The sparkling stone caught the bright daylight, exposing her lie beyond any shadow of a doubt. Whispers of disgust filled the grand hallway as people turned their backs on her.
Evelyn: David, please let us talk about this privately in the back room!
David: There is nothing left to talk about. The party is over, and you are leaving this house today.
Sarah: You tried to destroy a little girl's life to gain control of a fortune you did not earn.
Lily: Daddy... am I in trouble?
David: No, my sweet girl. You are not in trouble at all. Daddy is so sorry he did not protect you immediately.
David dropped to one knee, wrapping his arms around Lily and pulling her tight against his chest. Tears streamed down his face as he realized how blind he had been to Evelyn's cruel nature. He looked up at Sarah with deep gratitude, knowing that her quick thinking and protective instincts had saved their family from absolute ruin.
