David pulled his smartphone out of his tuxedo jacket pocket, his fingers shaking slightly as he unlocked the screen. He opened the home security application and selected the study hallway camera feed from the main menu. Evelyn reached out to grab his wrist, her face suddenly pale beneath her heavy makeup.
Evelyn: David, stop this nonsense right now! You are humiliating me in front of our guests!
David: If my daughter is being accused of a crime, I am going to watch the video footage.
Sarah: Play it out loud, David. Let us all hear and see the absolute truth.
Evelyn: I am your wife! You should take my word over a bitter old woman!
David ignored her, tapping the screen to rewind the recorded footage by fifteen minutes. The clear 4K video showed the quiet hallway under the bright afternoon sun. Lily was seen walking peacefully toward the library holding a small sketchbook, completely unaware of anyone around her. A moment later, Evelyn stepped out of the study holding her own silver purse.
David: Look... there is Lily walking toward the library. She did not even touch your bag.
Sarah: Keep watching, David. Do not stop the video now.
On the screen, Evelyn was seen looking around the empty hallway carefully before reaching into her own purse. She pulled out the heavy diamond bracelet, slipped it inside a small hidden side pocket of her silk jacket, and then intentionally dropped her silk scarf onto the floor near the study entrance. Lily walked past a minute later, picked up the scarf politely, and placed it on the side table without opening the purse at all.
David: No... Evelyn... how could you do this?
Evelyn: That video is misleading! It does not show the full angle of what happened!
Sarah: The camera shows everything, Evelyn. You framed a child to create a wedge in this family!
David: You hid your own bracelet just to call the police on my eight-year-old daughter?
