Two days later, the high-rise office building of Montgomery Enterprises was packed for an emergency board meeting. Carter stood at the front of the long glass table, surrounded by older men in expensive suits. His mother, Evelyn, sat in the corner, clutching her designer handbag nervously.
Carter: Gentlemen, this meeting is completely unnecessary. My wife is simply having an emotional breakdown.
Board Member 1: Carter, the bank has frozen our primary credit lines until the trust ownership is clarified.
Evelyn: This is ridiculous! My late husband built this company from the ground up for my son!
Board Member 2: Actually, Evelyn, your late father-in-law provided ninety percent of the founding capital through the family estate.
The heavy double doors of the boardroom swung open smoothly. Sarah walked into the room wearing a sharp dark blue suit, accompanied by Mr. Vance and two uniformed legal guards. The board members immediately stood up from their leather chairs in surprise.
Carter: What are you doing here, Sarah? Security, throw her out of this building immediately!
Mr. Vance: Security works for the legal owner of the property, Mr. Montgomery. Which happens to be Mrs. Sarah Montgomery.
Evelyn: You gold-digger! You tricked my father-in-law into putting your poor father on those papers!
Sarah: My father saved this company twice when your son almost ran it into bankruptcy, Evelyn!
Sarah walked calmly to the head of the long table and placed a thick blue folder right in front of the lead board member. She looked Carter straight in the eyes, showing no fear or hesitation whatsoever.
Sarah: Here are the certified court documents from the probate judge in Dallas County.
Board Member 1: These documents verify that Sarah is the sole legal trustee and majority shareholder of Montgomery Enterprises.
Carter: This cannot be real! She is lying! Check those signatures again!
Mr. Vance: The signatures were verified by three independent forensic experts yesterday afternoon, Carter.
Carter slumped into his chair, his face turning pale as the reality hit him hard. The board members quickly sat back down, turning their attention away from Carter and toward Sarah. They knew where the power now resided.
Board Member 2: Mrs. Montgomery, what are your immediate plans for the executive management of this firm?
Sarah: First, I am removing Carter Montgomery from his position as Chief Executive Officer effective immediately.
