Two flashing blue and red police cruisers pulled up along the front driveway.
The bright emergency lights reflected brightly off the high glass bay windows.
Two strong tall police officers stepped quickly up onto the front porch.
Mark opened the broad wooden front door with a calm heavy heart.
Mark: Thank you for coming so fast officers please step inside immediately.
The lead police officer stepped into the wide tiled home hallway entry.
Officer: We received a report of a domestic poison emergency at this address.
Mark held up the tiny clear glass bottle sealed safely inside plastic.
Mark: My wife attempted to put dangerous chemical poison into my morning tea.
Sarah rushed forward from the living room couch with loud heavy crying.
Sarah: He is lying officer he made up this entire insane story!
The second police officer calmly held out his hands to block her path.
Officer: Ma'am please stay right back and keep yourself totally calm.
Mark pointed toward the shattered glass pieces left on the kitchen floor.
Mark: The evidence is all over the floor tiles in the kitchen area.
Mark: And my seven year old daughter witnessed the entire event take place.
The police officer looked closely at the tiny glass chemical pest bottle.
Officer: We will need to take this liquid sample directly to our lab.
The second officer carefully stepped toward Sarah and grabbed her slim arms.
Officer: Sarah Johnson you are under arrest for attempted chemical poisoning.
Sarah began screaming hysterically as cold steel handcuffs snapped on her wrists.
Sarah: Mark please do not do this to me think of our child!
Mark: I am thinking of our daughter and that is why you leave.
The officers slowly led Sarah out through the grand open front door.
Neighbors stood gathered out on the green suburban lawns watching in shock.
Mark watched from the window as the police car drove far away.
He walked upstairs softly to comfort his brave small little girl again.
He knocked gently on the white wooden bedroom door three quick times.
Mark: It is safe now sweetie you can open up the door for daddy.
Lily opened the door and wrapped her small arms around his waist.
Lily: Is Mommy gone away for a very long time Daddy?
Mark: Yes sweetie she is going to get the help she truly needs.
Lily: I was so scared you were going to drink that bad tea.
Mark lifted her up gently and held her close against his chest.
Mark: You saved my life today Lily and I love you so much.
