Sarah slowly stood up from the carpet with her head hanging down low.
She walked into the bedroom closet and grabbed a small blue travel bag.
Sarah: Can I at least say goodbye to my own daughter before going?
Mark: You can speak to her through my family lawyer starting tomorrow morning.
Sarah: I never meant to hurt Lily or destroy our family life together.
Mark: You made your choice when you built a secret wall of lies.
Sarah zipped her bag shut with a sharp sound that filled the hall.
She walked slowly past Mark toward the front wooden entry door threshold.
She looked back one last time at Lily, who hid behind Mark's leg.
Sarah: I am so sorry, Lily, for everything that happened today inside.
Lily stayed completely silent as she held onto her father's hand tightly.
The front door clicked shut loudly as Sarah stepped out into daylight.
Mark let out a long breath that he felt like holding all afternoon.
He looked down at the pile of legal papers resting on the floor.
Mark: We are going to fix all of this legal damage together, Lily.
Lily: Are we going to be safe now, Daddy, just you and me?
Mark: Yes, my brave little girl, we are going to be completely fine.
He picked up his daughter and held her close against his chest frame.
He knew the road ahead in courtroom trials would be long and hard.
But the truth had finally come out into the open light today.
