My Bride Tried To Poison Me Before Our Wedding Day

Within minutes, two uniform police officers entered the house through the front door, their boots heavy on the wooden floor. Emily stepped forward, handing them her smartphone along with the printed police reports from Clara’s past life in another state.

Officer Miller: Ma'am, stay right where you are. Do not make any sudden movements.

Clara: This is a massive mistake! You cannot arrest me based on a fake video made by his jealous sister!

Officer Miller: We will let the crime lab analyze the liquid on the floor and the video footage, ma'am. Right now, you are coming with us to the station.

The officers grabbed Clara’s arms, pulling her hands behind her back and snapping heavy steel handcuffs around her wrists. Clara sobbed loudly, her red satin dress rumpled as she was led out of the grand front entrance of the house in full view of the neighbors gathering on the sidewalk.

Arthur stood motionless in the center of the living room, watching the police cruiser drive away down the street until the flashing red and blue lights disappeared completely. The silence in the house was heavy and overwhelming, leaving him feeling completely hollow inside.

Emily walked over to her brother, placing a soft, comforting hand on his shaking shoulder as he sank down into a leather armchair, placing his head in his hands.

Arthur: How could I have been so blind, Em? She was going to kill me for my money, and I was ready to give her my entire life.

Emily: She was a professional liar, Arthur. You loved her with an open heart, and there is no shame in being a good person who trusted the wrong woman.

Arthur: If you had not stopped me... if you had not checked up on her... I would not be sitting here right now.

Emily wrapped her arms around her brother in a tight, warm hug, holding him close as he let out a heavy sigh of relief and grief.

Emily: You are my family, Arthur. I will always protect you, no matter what happens.

Over the next few weeks, the forensic investigation revealed that the powder Clara had mixed into Arthur’s drink was a highly toxic chemical compound that would have caused rapid heart failure within hours, making it look like a natural medical emergency. The police also uncovered a secret offshore bank account registered under Clara’s real name, where she planned to transfer Arthur’s life insurance settlement and trust fund money immediately after his death.

With the solid video evidence provided by Emily and the chemical analysis from the crime scene, Clara was convicted in court of attempted premeditated murder and grand fraud. She was sentenced to thirty years in federal prison without the possibility of early parole, ensuring she would never hurt another innocent family again.

Six months later, Arthur stood in the sunny backyard of his house once again, watching the green leaves sway gently in the afternoon breeze. The pain of betrayal had not vanished completely, but peace and safety had finally returned to his home.

Emily walked out onto the patio carrying two fresh glasses of lemonade, handing one to her brother with a bright, warm smile.

Emily: Here you go, Arthur. Safe to drink, I promise.

Arthur laughed, a genuine, happy sound that felt lighter and freer than anything he had felt in a long time. He took the glass from his sister and held it up in a small toast.

Arthur: Emily, you did not just stop a terrible crime. You saved my life, and I will be grateful to you every single day for as long as I live.

Emily: Cheers to new beginnings, brother. We are going to be just fine.

They clinked their glasses together under the bright sunlight, knowing that their bond as family was stronger than any betrayal that could ever come their way.
