Setting The Trap

My Bride Tried To Poison Me Before Our Wedding Day

The next morning arrived with clear blue skies and bright sunshine pouring through the tall windows of the dining room. The house was busy with activity as caterers set up silver trays and adjusted the white tablecloths for the pre-wedding family lunch. Arthur was dressed in a sharp navy suit, looking handsome and happy as he chatted with the wedding planner in the hallway.

Emily spent the entire morning setting up small, hidden security cameras around the dining room and kitchen area. She had bought three tiny, high-definition camera chips that streamed live video directly to her phone, hiding one inside a silk flower arrangement on the sideboard and another near the beverage station.

Arthur: Emily! Come here and try this fresh orange juice the caterers just brought in from the kitchen.

Emily: I will be right there, Arthur. Just adjusting the flowers near the main table.

Clara walked into the dining room, looking radiant in her bright red satin dress, her hair styled in soft waves over her shoulders. She looked like a stunning bride ready for her dream wedding, but Emily could see the cold calculation hiding behind her forced smile.

Clara: Good morning, everyone! Everything looks so stunning and beautiful today.

Arthur: Good morning, my sweet bride. You look absolutely breathless today.

Clara: Thank you, darling. Why don't you sit down at the head of the table while I pour you a fresh drink?

Clara walked over to the side sideboard where the glass pitchers were kept. Emily stood near the dining room doorway, keeping her hands tucked into her pockets as she tapped the screen of her smartphone to start recording the live camera feed.

Through her phone screen, Emily watched Clara’s subtle movements closely. Clara looked around the room quickly, making sure the caterers were busy in the back kitchen and that Arthur’s back was turned toward the window. Then, with quick and practiced fingers, Clara pulled a tiny paper packet from her handbag.

She tore open the corner and poured a fine white powder directly into Arthur’s glass of orange juice. She used a small silver spoon to stir the liquid rapidly until the powder dissolved completely into the orange drink, leaving no visible trace behind.

Clara: Here you go, my love. A nice cold glass of fresh juice to start our wonderful day.

Clara picked up the heavy glass and walked toward Arthur with a smooth, calm smile on her face. Arthur turned around from the window, smiling warmly at his future wife as he reached out his hand to take the glass from her.

Arthur: Thank you, Clara. You are always so thoughtful and sweet to me.

Arthur raised the glass toward his lips, ready to take a large gulp. Emily felt her blood run cold as time seemed to slow down completely. She knew this was her only moment to act before it was too late.

Emily rushed across the room, her shoes clicking loudly on the hardwood floor as she reached out and grabbed Arthur’s right arm with all her strength.

Arthur: Why are you touching my arm like that?

Emily: Put the glass down right now! Do not drink that!
