The Fall Of Michael

Two uniformed police officers pushed their way through the glass doors at the back of the ballroom, accompanied by Detective Miller from the financial crimes division.

Detective Miller: Audrey Sterling?

Audrey: Over here, Detective. Thank you for arriving so quickly.

Detective Miller: We received the wire transfer documentation and the security footage from Mr. Harrison an hour ago.

Michael: Detective, listen to me! This is a domestic dispute between a bride and groom! It has nothing to do with federal wire laws!

Detective Miller: Michael Vance, we have a federal warrant for your arrest regarding wire fraud, corporate embezzlement, and falsification of financial records.

Michael: A warrant?! You can't arrest me at my own wedding venue!

Detective Miller: The warrant was signed by a magistrate judge two hours ago, sir. Turn around and place your hands behind your back.

The two officers stepped onto the platform, grabbing Michael's arms and pinning them behind his back. The cold, metallic click of handcuffs echoed clearly through the stage microphone.

Michael: Audrey! Tell them to stop! Call your corporate lawyers! Tell them it was a mistake!

Audrey: I told you before, Michael. The only mistake was ever trusting you.

Chloe: Detective! I didn't steal any money! I was just following his orders!

Detective Miller: Chloe Reed, you are also being taken in for questioning regarding corporate espionage and unauthorized access to secure servers.

Chloe burst into hysterical tears as the second officer led her toward the aisle. Photographers flashed their cameras continuously as the groom in his disheveled tuxedo and the assistant in her trench coat were led down the center walkway in handcuffs.

Guest A: Look at him... dragged out of his own three-million-dollar wedding venue.

Guest B: Serves him right. Trying to steal twenty million dollars from the woman he was supposed to marry.

Eleanor: Michael! Oh my God, Michael!

Eleanor ran after her son, her gold gown dragging across the floor as reporters swarmed the exit doors to capture the arrest on video.

Audrey stood on the stage, watching the heavy double doors close behind the police officers. She let out a long, quiet breath, feeling a deep sense of relief settle over her chest.

Harrison stepped up beside her, handing her a glass of fresh sparkling water.

Harrison: Are you alright, Miss Sterling?

Audrey: I have never been better, Harrison. The cancer has been removed from my company.

Harrison: What should we do with the wedding reception setup?

Audrey: Turn the reception into a victory celebration for our shareholders. Serve the finest champagne, and announce that Sterling Enterprises stock is holding firm.

The remaining guests in the ballroom broke into a loud, enthusiastic round of applause, standing up from their seats to toast the woman who had saved her family legacy from total ruin.
