Michael: Don't call anyone! Listen to me first!
Audrey: There is nothing left to hear, Michael.
Michael: She came in here to drop off the cufflinks! She slipped on the floor!
Audrey: She slipped out of her dress and into my bed?
Chloe: Audrey, please! Michael told me you two were having problems!
Audrey: Shut your mouth, Chloe. You are fired as my assistant, effective three seconds ago.
Michael stepped closer, trying to grab Audrey's arm to stop her from making the call. Furious at his betrayal, Audrey turned back and forcefully slapped the shirtless man across the face. The heavy slap impact echoed through the suite, sending his head snapping sideways in shock.
Michael: Ah! Audrey!
Audrey: Do not lay a finger on me.
Michael held his bruised, reddening cheek, standing frozen in disbelief as Audrey brought the phone to her ear. On the bed, Chloe cowered under the blanket, watching in sheer fear as Audrey spoke into the receiver with icy composure.
Audrey: Harrison? Cancel the ceremony. Shut down the wedding immediately, and revoke every single share registered to Michael in Sterling Global.
Harrison: Miss Sterling? Are you sure? The board of directors is already seated in the ballroom.
Audrey: Do it right now. Have security freeze his corporate access card and lock his office door.
Michael: Audrey, no! You can't do that! Those shares represent my entire future!
Audrey: Your future ended the moment you brought another woman into my suite on our wedding day.
Audrey ended the call and placed her smartphone back inside her clutch purse. She looked back at Michael with absolute disdain, adjusting her veil with a steady hand.
Michael: Audrey, think about the press! Think about what this will do to the stock price tomorrow morning!
Audrey: The stock price will recover, Michael. You won't.
Chloe: Michael, do something! You said you had equal voting power on the board!
Michael: I had voting power because I was marrying Audrey! Audrey, please! We can fix this!
Audrey: Get out of my sight before I have hotel security drag you out through the lobby in your underwear.
Audrey turned her back on him and walked out of the bedroom, her high heels clicking sharply against the white marble floor of the luxury suite.
Michael stood frozen in the center of the room, clutching his burning cheek as the weight of his ruin finally hit him. Behind him, Chloe pulled the blanket higher, her face pale with dread.
Chloe: Michael... did she really just revoke your shares?
Michael: Shut up, Chloe! Just shut up!
Michael grabbed a shirt from the floor, his hands shaking so violently he could barely push his arms through the sleeves. He knew that downstairs, the most powerful investors in the city were waiting for an announcement that would destroy his life.
