An hour later, Marcus arrived at the front entrance of the grand estate.
He carried a heavy black briefcase full of official legal documents.
David met him at the front foyer, walking side by side with Elena.
Marcus: Elena, it is good to see you safe and standing on your feet.
Elena: Thank you for coming so fast, Marcus.
David: Did you find the old records from my father's original trust fund?
Marcus opened his leather briefcase on the large wooden dining table.
Marcus: I found something even better than old financial records, David.
Elena: What did you find?
Marcus: Your father added a safety clause to his life insurance policy three years ago.
David looked closely at the legal document Marcus pointed to on the table.
David: What does the clause say?
Marcus: It states that if Victoria ever attempts to alter the estate, she loses everything.
Just then, Victoria and Ricardo walked into the grand dining room together.
Victoria: What are these intruders doing in my living room, David?
Ricardo: You are violating a legal contract, counselor.
Marcus stood up tall and adjusted his glasses calmly.
Marcus: Ricardo, I suggest you read paragraph four of the original Vance trust deed.
Ricardo frowned and took the paper from Marcus's outstretched hand.
As his eyes scanned the page, his face lost all of its confident color.
Ricardo: This... this clause was supposed to be removed during probate!
Marcus: It was never removed because it was filed directly with the state court.
Victoria: Ricardo, what is he talking about?
Ricardo: If this document is authentic, your forced contract is completely void.
David: It is authentic, and Mrs. Higgins has already given her statement to the police.
Victoria took a step back, her hands trembling around her heavy pearl necklace.
Victoria: You brought the police into my home?
David: You committed a serious crime against my wife in this very house.
The sound of loud police sirens echoed outside through the long driveway.
