Clara pulled the oxygen mask down slightly, her voice rasping as she looked at her stepmother on the floor.

The heavy doors of the hospital suite pushed open again as four uniformed Dallas police officers marched into the room, their leather duty belts creaking as they approached the corner.
Officer Vance: Dallas Police! Everyone step back from the suspect!
Julian: Officer Vance, thank you for getting here so quickly.
Officer Vance: Mr. Sterling, we received the call regarding an active assault on a bed-bound patient.
Julian: The entire incident was captured by thirty independent news cameras, as well as the room's high-definition medical recording system.
Officer Vance: Esther Sterling, stand up and place your hands behind your back.
Esther: Officer, listen to me! This is a family dispute! My stepson struck me across the face! Look at my cheek!
Officer Vance: Ma'am, we have eyes on the video footage. Mr. Sterling acted to protect a victim from an ongoing attempted homicide. Stand up right now.
Officer Vance pulled Esther up from the floor, spinning her around forcefully and snapping cold steel handcuffs around her wrists.
Esther: AHH! You're hurting me! I demand my lawyer! Call Arthur Pendelton right now!
Officer Vance: You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney.
Esther: Julian! Clara! You can't do this to me! Think about your father's legacy! The Sterling name will be dragged through the mud!
