One year later, the bright morning sun streamed through the high floor-to-ceiling windows of the Vance Financial Building in downtown Dallas. The corporate boardroom was filled with senior board members, attorneys, and financial directors, all sitting around a long polished mahogany table.
At the head of the table sat Arthur, wearing a sharp black suit, with Chloe sitting right beside him as vice-chair of the estate foundation.
Arthur: "Gentlemen, the final restructuring of the Vance Family Trust is officially complete. All assets have been secured under our non-profit community foundation."
Board Director Thomas: "Congratulations, Arthur. Your father would be proud to see the company managed with such integrity."
Chloe: "We are allocating ten million dollars from the trust directly toward regional domestic violence shelters and victim assistance programs across Texas."
Board Director Thomas: "An honorable decision, Mrs. Vance. The board fully approves."
After the meeting concluded, Arthur and Chloe walked out onto the private top-floor terrace overseeing the Dallas skyline. The warm Texas breeze blew softly, carrying the distant sounds of the city below. Arthur wrapped his arm around Chloe's waist, pulling her close against his side.
Chloe: "Do you ever think about that day in the foyer?"
Arthur: "I think about catching you. I think about how close I came to losing the most important person in my life."
Chloe: "You saved me, Arthur. In every way possible."
Arthur: "We saved each other. And now, this family's future belongs to us."
Chloe smiled, leaning her head against his shoulder as they looked out over the sunlit city, completely free from the darkness of the past.
