The crystal chandeliers in the grand foyer of the Sterling mansion cast a brilliant light across the white marble floors. Outside, expensive luxury cars pulled up the driveway, bringing high-society guests to celebrate the annual family gala. But inside the main entryway, away from the music, a bitter war was breaking out.
Victoria: You really thought you could just walk into this family and take half of the inheritance, didn't you?
Clara: Victoria, please... I don't want to fight with you tonight. I'm seven months pregnant.
Victoria: I don't care about your baby, Clara! You are nothing but a gold-digger who tricked my father!
Clara backed up slowly toward the edge of the grand marble staircase, her purple maternity dress rustling against the polished steps. Her hands rested protectively over her stomach, her chest heaving with anxiety. Victoria stepped forward, her red designer dress clinging tightly to her as her heels clicked against the floor.
Clara: Wait, stop! Don't come any closer!
Victoria: Get out of my father's house!
Before Clara could turn away, Victoria placed both hands on Clara's chest and gave a sudden, violent shove. Clara lost her balance on the top marble step, screaming out in terror as her feet slipped completely from beneath her. Her body hit the hard marble steps, tumbling helplessly down the long flight of stairs before crashing onto the cold floor of the foyer below.
Gasping echoed through the hall as scattered guests watched the horrific fall from the upper balconies in utter shock. Clara lay completely flat on the white marble floor, her tears falling fast as she clutched her side in severe pain. Up on the balcony landing, Victoria adjusted her red dress, a dark, smug smile spreading across her face. Beside her stood a man in a grey suit, watching Clara with cold, cruel amusement.
Heavy, rapid footsteps thundered down the marble steps as a handsome man in a dark suit rushed past the frozen guests. Arthur dropped to his knees beside Clara, his face pale with horror as he gently cradled her face in his trembling hands.
Arthur: Clara! Clara, open your eyes! I'm here. Stay awake!
Clara: Arthur... my baby... don't let them leave...
Arthur looked up at the top of the stairs, his eyes locking onto Victoria and the man in the grey suit, who were standing together with smirking faces, completely unaware that their entire lives were about to collapse in front of the entire room.
