Three months later, the Texas winter gave way to bright spring sunshine across Dallas. The grand foyer of the Sterling mansion was decorated with fresh white lilies and yellow roses. Guests from across Dallas society filled the room, chatting softly under the grand columns and the prominent American flags hanging on the wall.
Near the curved marble staircase, Julian stood wearing a sharp navy blue tuxedo, holding little Leo, who was laughing and clapping his tiny hands while wearing a miniature bow tie.
Julian: "Ladies and gentlemen, thank you all for joining us today for this special celebration."
The crowd went quiet, turning their attention toward the head of the stairs.
Julian: "Three months ago, a dark shadow hung over this home. But thanks to the bravery and selflessness of one incredible young woman, my son was saved, and my family was given a second chance at happiness."
The guests began to applaud warmly as the double doors at the top of the staircase opened.
Sarah stepped onto the landing, looking radiant and stunning in an elegant emerald green silk gown. Her skin was clear, her dark hair styled gracefully over her shoulders, and her eyes sparkled with confidence and joy.
Julian: "Please join me in welcoming the new Director of the Eleanor & Clara Pediatric Foundation... Miss Sarah Miller!"
The room erupted into loud, enthusiastic applause. Sarah walked gracefully down the marble stairs, a warm, genuine smile on her face as she reached the bottom step, where Julian extended his hand to welcome her.
Sarah: "Thank you, Julian. And thank you to everyone who supported us."
Julian: "How does it feel to be back in the foyer without a broom in your hand?"
Sarah: "It feels like I'm finally right where I'm supposed to be."
Little Leo reached his small arms out toward Sarah, babbling happily.
Leo: "Sa-ra! Sa-ra!"
Sarah laughed softly, taking the little boy into her arms and holding him close, kissing his cheek gently while he giggled.
Sarah: "Look at you, little man! You're getting so heavy!"
Julian: "He misses you in the house, you know. He keeps looking for you in the kitchen every morning."
Sarah: "Well, now that my foundation office is set up on the second floor, he can visit me every single day."
Arthur Vance walked up to them, holding a champagne glass and a warm smile.
Arthur Vance: "Sarah, I have some news from the District Attorney's office. Victoria Cole took a plea bargain this morning. She's been sentenced to six years at the State Correctional Institution without possibility of parole for three years."
Sarah: "Justice was served, Arthur. That's all that matters."
Julian: "And her father's firm?"
Arthur Vance: "Liquidated last Friday. Sterling Energy acquired their remaining shipping assets for pennies on the dollar."
Julian nodded with quiet satisfaction, taking a glass of sparkling water from a passing tray and lifting it in a toast toward Sarah and his son.
Julian: "To truth, to family, and to the woman who saved us all."
Sarah: "To new beginnings."
