The Sirens Draw Near

He Laughed At Her Crying Daughter Until She Slapped Him Hard

Julian: Karen, please... let's talk about this like adults. We don't need to involve the authorities.

Karen: Talk? You sat on that couch laughing while my child wept on the floor!

Julian: I was under a lot of stress! The company is failing, Karen! If I don't move those funds, the creditors will liquidate everything!

Karen: Then let them liquidate you. You're done ruining our lives.

Julian: You can't just destroy me like this! I built this life for us!

Karen: You didn't build anything, Julian. You lived off my father's estate and my family's hard work.

Vanessa: I'm leaving. I don't want any part of this.

Karen: You're not going anywhere, Vanessa. You laid hands on my daughter, and you're mentioned in that recording.

Vanessa: I was just following his orders! He told me he had full legal custody!

Karen: The police will be here in two minutes. You can explain your excuses to the detective.

Julian: You called the police before you even came inside?!

Karen: The moment I heard Maya crying from the driveway, I dialed nine-one-one and left the line open in my pocket.

In the distance, the sharp wail of emergency sirens cut through the quiet Dallas neighborhood. The sound grew rapidly louder, echoing up the long private driveway of the luxury estate. Julian panicked, turning toward the double doors, but Karen stepped directly in front of him, her grey suit blocking the threshold completely.

Julian: Get out of my way, Karen!

Karen: Try to push past me, Julian. Go ahead. Add assaulting an officer's daughter to your charges.

Maya: Mom, look! The police cars are outside!

Red and blue lights flashed brightly through the tall windows, reflecting off the white marble floor and the American flag artwork. The sound of heavy boots echoed outside as officers approached the entrance.

Julian: Karen, I'm begging you... take the money. Take the four million. Just don't let them arrest me!

Karen: It was never your money to offer, Julian.

The heavy front doors swung open once more, revealing three uniformed police officers holding handcuffs. Julian collapsed back onto the sofa, burying his face in his shaking hands as the law finally caught up with him.
