Karen: The security team at the front gate works for my father's estate, Julian. They let me in because my name is on the deed.

Karen glanced down at the active screen of Julian's phone. The voice recorder app was open, flashing a bright red recording dot at the top of the display. Julian had been secretly recording the entire encounter, expecting to capture Karen losing her temper to use against her in court. A dark smile touched Karen's lips as she saw the length of the recording file.
Karen: Well, well, well. Look at this. You were recording us the whole time.
Julian: That's private property! You can't look at my phone!
Karen: You left the recording running, Julian. Which means every word you said before I walked in is captured right here.
Julian: Give it back!
Julian made a sudden move to jump off the sofa, but Karen tapped the screen and hit the play button on the speakerphone. A crystal-clear audio recording began to play loudly across the vast living room, filling the space with his own scheming voice.
Julian's Recorded Voice: Keep the kid locked in the living room until the court mediator leaves, Vanessa. If her mother shows up, tell her Maya is asleep upstairs.

Julian's Recorded Voice: She won't do anything. I have her tied up in legal fees. Once I transfer the remaining four million from the trust fund to my Cayman account tonight, we're flying out to Dubai. She won't have the money to sue me.
The audio played with perfect clarity, every word echoing against the high white walls and the artwork. Vanessa stood frozen, her jaw dropped in shock as she realized she had been caught on tape assisting in child concealment and financial theft.
Vanessa: Julian... you said we were going on vacation! You didn't say anything about stealing from a trust fund!

Karen: Is that true, Julian? Were you planning to take her out of Texas today?
