A Confrontation In The Hall

He Found His Missing Parents Locked Inside Their Own Basement

When they reached the top of the stairs, Clara was standing near the front door.

She was hurriedly typing a message on her mobile phone with trembling fingers.

Sean: Put that phone away and do not even think about stepping out that door.

Clara: You cannot keep me inside this house against my personal will, Sean.

Sean: I am keeping you here until the local police officers arrive to arrest you.

He pulled out his phone and pressed the three numbers for emergency service assistance.

He placed the call on speakerphone so Clara could hear every single word clearly.

Dispatcher: Emergency services, what is the exact location of your current emergency?

Sean: I need police officers at the Vance family estate on Oak Ridge Road immediately.

Dispatcher: What is happening at that location right now, sir?

Sean: My cousin held my elderly parents captive inside a locked basement cell.

Clara gasped loudly and took a quick step backward toward the main living room.

Clara: Tell them it is just a simple private family misunderstanding, Sean!

Sean: She was attempting to force them to sign fraudulent estate trust documents under duress.

Dispatcher: Officers are on their way to your location right now, sir. Stay safe.

Sean ended the call and looked coldly at his nervous cousin standing near the couch.

Arthur sat down slowly on a comfortable armchair in the living room and sighed deeply.

Eleanor wrapped a warm knitted blanket around her shoulders and held Arthur's tired hand.

Arthur: Why did you do this to us after all the support we gave you, Clara?

Clara: You always favored Sean and left me with crumbs from the family business!

Arthur: We paid your full college tuition and gave you a high-paying executive job!

Clara: That was nothing compared to the control of the primary estate trust!

Sean: Your pure greed completely destroyed whatever heart you had left inside you, Clara.

Clara suddenly lunged toward the open office door to grab the original signed documents.

Sean reacted instantly and stepped directly into her path, blocking the wooden frame.

Sean: You are not hiding any evidence before the police get here today.

Clara stopped right in front of him, her face twisting into an expression of bitter rage.

Clara: You think you have won, but my lawyers will tie this up in court forever!

Sean: The audio recording I have will send you straight to a federal prison, Clara.

Outside the large front windows, red and blue lights began flashing through the glass.
