Justice Served

Victoria: Why are there police officers in the church? Mark, what did you do?!

Mark: You didn't just write a note, Victoria. You paid an unauthorized agency to pick Lily up after the reception.

Victoria: That's not true! I was just sending her to a summer camp!

Officer Smith: Victoria Vance? We have a warrant for your arrest regarding attempted unlawful transport of a minor and attempted grand larceny.

Victoria: Keep your hands off me! Do you know who my family is?!

Eleanor: This is an outrage! You can't arrest the bride on her wedding day!

Officer Smith: Ma'am, step back, or you will be arrested for obstruction of justice.

The officer grabbed Victoria's wrists, pulling her hands behind her back and snapping cold silver handcuffs onto her.

The expensive white lace veil tumbled off her head, landing in a heap on the carpet.

Victoria: Mark, help me! Tell them it was a misunderstanding! I love you!

Mark: You loved my mansion, my trust fund, and my money. You never cared about me, and you hated my child.

Victoria: You'll regret this! You'll spend the rest of your life alone!

Mark: I'm not alone. I have my daughter.

The officers turned Victoria around and escorted her down the aisle past two hundred stunned guests, who pulled out their phones to record her tearful, screaming exit.

Eleanor scurried after them, covering her face in complete humiliation as the crowd began to whisper and cheer.

Mark knelt down on the marble step, pulling Lily into a warm, protective embrace.

Mark: Are you okay, sweetheart?

Lily: Is she gone forever, Daddy?

Mark: Yes, baby. She's gone. Nobody is ever going to take you away from me.

Lily: Promise?

Mark: I promise. Forever and always.

Lily wrapped her small arms tightly around his neck, burying her head into his white tuxedo jacket as Mark picked her up and carried her out of the church, leaving the broken wedding behind them for good.
