Victoria: Jessica, stand up right now! Stop crying on the marble floor like a child!
Jessica: He left me, Mom! He actually walked out on me in front of three hundred people!
Victoria: Get your dress together and follow him into the bridal suite! You fix this right now!
Jessica: Did you hear what he said about the business merger?! Dad is going to lose his company!
Victoria: Your father is not going to lose anything! I will speak to Tyler's father personally!
Jessica: Tyler's father died ten years ago, Mom! Tyler owns sixty percent of the firm himself!
Victoria's face turned pale as she realized the full weight of the situation.
Down the long carpeted hallway of the venue, Tyler pushed open the heavy mahogany doors of the private holding room.
He helped his mother sit down on a velvet sofa, kneeling in front of her to check her pulse.
Tyler: Mom, talk to me. Is your chest feeling tight at all?
Clara: I'm just shaken up, Tyler. My heart is beating fast, but I took my medicine before the ceremony.
Tyler: I'm so sorry, Mom. I should have seen how she treated people before bringing her into our lives.
Clara: You were blinded by love, son. It happens to the best of us.
Tyler: It wasn't love. It was convenience. I thought she was classier than her mother, but they are cut from the exact same cloth.
A knock sounded at the door, and Tyler's head of corporate security, Marcus, stepped into the room.
Marcus: Mr. Vance, the paramedics are arriving through the side entrance now. Should I bring them in?
Tyler: Yes, bring them straight in. I want a full medical check on my mother before we leave for the house.
Marcus: Also, Mr. Sterling is outside in the lobby demanding to speak with you regarding the catering contracts.
Tyler: Tell Richard Sterling that if he steps near this door, I will have my security detail remove him from the property.
Marcus: Understood, sir. I'll have officers clear the private driveway for your car.
Two Dallas paramedics walked in carrying a medical kit, quickly attaching an EKG monitor to Clara's arm.
Paramedic: Her blood pressure is elevated, Mr. Vance, but her heart rhythm appears stable for now.
Tyler: Can she travel in a vehicle, or does she need an ambulance ride to Dallas General?
Clara: I don't want to go to the hospital, Tyler. I just want to go home to our house.
Paramedic: As long as she rests and stays away from stress, she can travel in your personal car, sir.
Tyler: Thank you. Marcus, bring the SUV around to the private courtyard exit.
As the paramedics packed their gear, the heavy door clicked open, and Jessica pushed past two security guards with her makeup smeared across her cheeks.
Jessica: Tyler! You can't just leave without talking to my father!
Tyler: Get out of this room, Jessica.
Jessica: My father spent two hundred thousand dollars on the flower arrangements alone! You owe us an explanation!
Tyler: I owe you nothing. You showed your true colors before we even exchanged vows.
Jessica: I was nervous! Brides get nervous on their wedding day! Everyone knows that!
Tyler: Being nervous doesn't make a person shove an sick woman against a marble wall, Jessica.
Jessica: She was standing in the middle of the hallway where the videographers were trying to shoot my walk!
Tyler: She is my mother! She had every right to be in that hallway!
Jessica: She looks like a pauper in that black lace dress, Tyler! My mother offered to buy her a designer gown last month, and she refused it!
Clara: That designer gown cost five thousand dollars, Jessica. I preferred to wear the dress my late husband bought me for our anniversary.
Jessica: See?! She did it on purpose to embarrass us in front of the Dallas society reporter!
Tyler stood up to his full height, stepping between Jessica and his mother once again with a look of utter disgust.
Tyler: You actually care more about a society reporter than a human being's dignity.
Jessica: Tyler, please... we can fix this! We can do the ceremony in private without the guests!
Tyler: The ceremony is never happening. Marcus, remove her from this room right now.
