Emma Parker never imagined that a normal afternoon of babysitting would become the worst day of her life.
Every Saturday, the seventeen-year-old traveled to the luxurious Morrison Villa to tutor twelve-year-old Lily Morrison after school. The job helped Emma pay rent for the tiny apartment she shared with her grandmother after losing both of her parents in a car accident years earlier.
The Morrison estate looked more like a private resort than a home. White marble floors stretched beneath towering ceilings, modern artwork decorated every wall, and expensive watches and jewelry were displayed inside custom glass cabinets.
Emma had worked there for almost a year.
She had never given anyone a reason to doubt her honesty.
That afternoon, she left her tan backpack near the entrance while helping Lily with homework upstairs.
Everything seemed perfectly normal.
Until Olivia Morrison suddenly screamed from the living room.
"You dirty thief, confess right now!"
Emma rushed downstairs in confusion.
She found Olivia standing over her backpack while several household employees watched nervously.
"What happened?" Emma asked.
Olivia didn't answer.
Instead, she grabbed the backpack, unzipped it, and reached inside.
A moment later, she held up a gold luxury watch.
The room fell silent.
Emma stared at it in disbelief.
"I swear I didn't put that in there!"
Tears instantly filled her eyes.
She had never even touched the watch before.
Olivia folded her arms with a smug smile.
"I knew you couldn't be trusted."
Then she looked toward her husband.
"Have her arrested."
The frightened teenager looked desperately at Mr. Morrison, hoping someone would believe her.
He didn't speak.
He simply looked from the watch...
To Emma...
Then quietly reached for his phone.
