Lily: Daddy, can we go home now? I don't like this house anymore.
Ethan: We are going to sell this house, sweetheart. We're going to buy a beautiful new home near the beach, far away from all of this noise.
Agent Miller: Mr. Vance, we need you to bring Lily to the medical team waiting in the mobile command center outside. Paramedics want to check her leg and treat that scratch on her ankle.
Ethan: Thank you, Agent Miller. I appreciate everything you and your team did today. Did you get the physical backup drive from the security room?
Agent Miller: We secured all internal audio and video recordings. The evidence against Victoria Vance is overwhelming. She won't be seeing the light of day for twenty to thirty years minimum.
Victoria: You ruined my life, Ethan! You ruined everything I worked for!
Ethan: You ruined your own life the second you decided to hurt an innocent six-year-old child for money. Take her out of my sight.
The federal agents dragged Victoria kicking and screaming out the open front doors, her high heels dragging uselessly along the driveway gravel as the red and blue emergency lights flashed across her tear-stained face. The loud sound of her shouting slowly faded away as the heavy doors of the police transport vehicle slammed shut.
Ethan walked slowly out onto the grand front porch of the mansion, holding Lily securely in his arms. The afternoon sun was warm and bright, shining down on the long green lawn and the peaceful trees surrounding the luxury estate. Lily rested her head against his chest, her breathing finally slowing down as her tears stopped falling.
Lily: Daddy? Is evil step-grandma really gone forever?
Ethan: Yes, my sweet girl. She is gone forever. Nobody is ever going to hurt you again.
Lily: Can we get ice cream on the way home?
Ethan: We can get all the ice cream you want, baby. Anything you want in the whole wide world.
Ethan carried his daughter down the grand stone steps toward the waiting medical car, stepping into the warm sunlight as the dark shadow of his family's past finally dissolved behind them forever.
