The Paper Trail

Billionaire Catches Stepmother Pushing Daughter Off Mansion Balcony Railing

Two days after Evelyn's arrest, the mansion was peaceful and quiet. The morning sun illuminated the clean foyer, reflecting off the polished marble floors where the nightmare had taken place. Julian sat at the large dining table with his lead attorney, Marcus Sterling, reviewing a thick stack of financial audits.

Marcus: "Julian, the forensic accountants finished going through Evelyn's personal accounts this morning."

Julian: "What did they find, Marcus?"

Marcus: "It's far worse than we initially thought. Over the last six months, she transferred nearly three million dollars from your mother's trust fund into a private bank account in the Cayman Islands."

Julian: "She was stealing from my mother's estate while living under my roof?!"

Marcus: "Yes. And we found a drafted contract on her personal laptop. She was planning to hire a fraudulent medical team to claim Clara was unfit to remain in your legal custody."

Julian slammed his hand down onto the mahogany table, his eyes burning with quiet fury.

Julian: "She was trying to take my daughter away from me?!"

Marcus: "She wanted full control of Clara's legal guardianship so she could access the remaining thirty million dollars in the inheritance trust."

Julian: "Thank God I caught her when I did."

Marcus: "Because of the security video and this paper trail, the prosecutor is adding grand larceny and wire fraud to her criminal charges."

Clara walked into the dining room wearing a bright yellow sundress, holding a fresh drawing she had made at her small desk.

Clara: "Daddy, look! I drew a picture of us and Barnaby!"

Julian's stern expression instantly vanished, replaced by a soft, loving smile as he took the paper from his daughter's hands.

Julian: "This is beautiful, sweetheart! Look at the dog's big ears!"

Clara: "When are we getting Barnaby from the shelter, Daddy?"

Julian: "Right after Mr. Marcus finishes signing these papers. We're going straight to the shelter to pick up your new puppy."

Clara: "Yay! Thank you, Daddy!"

Marcus smiled warmly, closing his briefcase and standing up from the table.

Marcus: "The prenup is officially voided under the felony crime clause, Julian. She won't receive a single penny from your estate, and her offshore accounts have already been frozen by federal marshals."

Julian: "Thank you, Marcus. Make sure she gets the maximum sentence possible under the law."

Marcus: "With the evidence we have, she'll be spending at least twenty years behind bars."

Marcus shook Julian's hand and walked out through the grand entrance, leaving father and daughter alone in the bright, peaceful mansion.
