Evelyn: "Evidence?! What evidence?! There are no cameras up here on the balcony!"
Julian: "Is that what you thought?"
Evelyn: "I checked the floor plan when we moved in! The foyer cameras only face the front entrance doors!"
Julian reached into his charcoal grey suit jacket and pulled out his smartphone, unlocking the screen with his thumb print.
Julian: "I installed private 4K motion cameras in every hallway three weeks ago after Clara told me her bruises were from falling down the stairs."
Evelyn froze, her breath catching in her throat as her face drained of all color.
Evelyn: "You... you installed cameras without telling me?"
Julian: "I suspected someone was hurting my daughter. I just prayed to God that I was wrong."
Clara: "I told you she pushed me last week too, Daddy..."
Julian: "I know, sweetheart. I know, and I'm so sorry I didn't listen to you sooner."
Julian tapped the screen, turning the phone toward Evelyn so she could see the crisp HD video feed playing on the glass surface.
Julian: "Look at the screen, Evelyn. Look at how clearly it shows you grabbing Clara by her shirt and shoving her over the edge."
The audio from the recording played aloud through the smartphone's speaker, filling the quiet foyer with crystal clear sound.
Recording: "Get out of my life!"
Evelyn gasped, backing up against the balcony railing as her hands began to shake uncontrollably.
Evelyn: "Delete that! Delete that right now, Julian!"
Julian: "This file is already uploaded to my attorney's secure server and saved on three external drives."
Evelyn: "You set me up! You trapped me!"
Julian: "You trapped yourself the moment you let your disgusting greed turn you into a child abuser!"
Evelyn: "Julian, please... think about our family reputation! If this video leaks to the news, your stock prices will crash!"
Julian: "I don't give a damn about stock prices! My daughter's life is worth more than every dollar in my bank account!"
Evelyn: "We can make a deal! I will sign a divorce agreement today! I'll walk away quietly without asking for a single cent of alimony!"
Julian: "You aren't walking away with a deal, Evelyn. You are walking away in handcuffs."
Evelyn: "You wouldn't dare send your own wife to prison!"
Julian: "You are not my wife. You are a criminal who tried to murder a child."
Clara pulled gently on Julian's suit sleeve, pointing down toward the main entrance hall below the balcony.
Clara: "Daddy, look! The police car is outside!"
Julian looked down through the glass windows surrounding the front entrance. Red and blue lights flashed brightly against the white driveway as two police vehicles came to a quick stop near the front steps.
Julian: "I called the police from my smartwatch the second I caught Clara in my arms."
Evelyn: "No... no! Julian, wait!"
Evelyn tried to sprint toward the master bedroom hallway, but Julian stepped forward and grabbed her by her arm, locking her in place.
