Two days later, the morning sun washed over the beautiful front yard of the Miller family estate. The red brick house stood tall against the green trees, its front door open wide to welcome the cool afternoon breeze.
Chloe walked slowly down the front steps, leaning gently on Marcus's arm for support. She was out of her hospital gown, wearing comfortable soft clothes and holding a small bouquet of yellow flowers.
A team of honest estate lawyers had already taken control of all the business papers and bank accounts. Evelyn's legal rights were completely canceled by the court order signed earlier that morning.
Marcus: Look at the place, Chloe. It looks just like it did when Dad was still here.
Chloe: He would be so proud of you for standing up to her, Marcus.
Marcus: He would be proud of both of us. You were the brave one who kept that phone safe.
Chloe: I promised Dad I would protect our family name, no matter how hard it got.
They walked together toward the back garden, where a large oak tree stood overlooking the sparkling river below. Underneath the tree was a smooth stone bench where their father used to sit and read his books every weekend.
Chloe knelt down carefully and placed the yellow flowers onto the wooden bench. She closed her eyes for a moment, feeling the warm sunlight on her face.
Chloe: We are safe now, Dad. Evelyn will never hurt anyone ever again.
Marcus: The district attorney said she will face trial next month. The evidence is too strong for her to escape.
Chloe: Good. She chose her own path when she gave in to greed.
Marcus put his arm around his sister's shoulder, looking out at the grand estate that was now rightfully hers.
Marcus: What are you going to do with the trust fund once you turn twenty next week?
Chloe: I want to start a charity foundation in Dad's name to help kids who have lost their parents.
Marcus: That is a wonderful idea, Chloe. Dad would have loved that so much.
Chloe: Money only matters if you use it to bring light and help into the world.
They stood together under the old oak tree as the gentle afternoon breeze rustled through the green leaves. The dark clouds of fear, lies, and danger had finally passed away completely.
For Chloe and Marcus, the fight for justice was over, and a brand new chapter of love, peace, and hope was just beginning in the place they called home.
