Confrontation In The Ballroom

Eleanor: Victoria? What is the meaning of this interruption? Who are these people?

Victoria: You know exactly who this woman is, Eleanor! She just confessed everything to the police outside!

Eleanor: Confessed? Victoria, you're making a scene! Please, let security handle this street woman!

Victoria: This street woman bought my baby from you for ten thousand dollars fifteen years ago!

A loud gasp rippled through the crowd of billionaires, CEOs, and city officials. Eleanor's face instantly lost all color, her hand shaking so hard she nearly dropped the brass microphone.

Eleanor: That's absurd! That is a slanderous lie! I loved little Clara like my own daughter!

Martha: You hypocrite! You gave me the kid behind the train station in 2011 because your bookie was going to break your legs!

Eleanor: Shut your mouth, you filthy criminal!

Police Officer: Stand down, Ms. Eleanor. We have full digital record integration from the master kidnapping investigation file.

Victoria: And more importantly, Eleanor... look who is standing right beside me.

Victoria guided Daisy forward into the bright light of the crystal chandelier. The young girl lifted her head, holding the silver heart locket up for the entire room to see.

Daisy: The locket my mother gave me never left my neck, Eleanor. The DNA test was confirmed five minutes ago outside.

Eleanor: No... no, that's impossible! She was supposed to be taken out of the state!

Victoria: You just admitted it! You just admitted you knew she was taken!

Eleanor: I... I didn't mean... Victoria, please! I was desperate! I made a terrible mistake fifteen years ago!

Victoria: You stole my infant child, hid the truth, and then spent fifteen years managing her trust fund while taking a massive salary from my company!

Marcus: Financial audit teams are already freezing every account linked to your name, Eleanor.

Eleanor: Victoria, we were friends! I helped you build this foundation!

Victoria: You built a career on my grief! Officers, arrest her immediately!

Two officers marched up the stage steps, grabbing Eleanor's arms and placing her in heavy iron handcuffs right behind the podium. The guests began snapping photos and shouting questions, but Victoria didn't care about the scandal. She turned her entire attention back to Daisy.

Police Officer: Both suspects are in custody, Mrs. Sterling. You'll need to come down to the station tomorrow to sign the formal legal complaints.

Victoria: My attorneys will be at the station in twenty minutes with every document needed for a full estate prosecution.

Daisy: Is it really over, Mom?

Victoria: It's just beginning, my sweet girl. Let's go home.
