The junior officer stepped toward Victoria and held out a pair of shiny handcuffs.
Victoria backed away toward the edge of the large swimming pool behind her.
Victoria: Do not touch me! I am the mistress of this house!
Evelyn: You are an intruder who mistreated a defenseless little orphan girl!
Officer Miller: Hand over the stolen property immediately, ma'am, or face extra charges.
Lily leaned close to her grandmother's ear and spoke in a soft whisper.
Lily: Grandma, she hid Mom's ring inside her silver dress pocket right now.
Evelyn's eyes flashed with absolute anger as she stepped closer to Victoria.
She reached out her hand and demanded the precious ring that belonged to her late daughter.
Evelyn: Give me my daughter's ring before I lose my remaining patience with you!
Victoria sneered and pulled the sparkling diamond ring from her dress pocket carelessly.
She held the ring over the deep end of the swimming pool with a nasty look.
Victoria: If I cannot have this ring, then nobody will ever have it!
Marcus: Victoria, no! That ring has been in my family for three generations!
Victoria: I do not care about your stupid family or your worthless history!
Before Victoria could drop the ring into the deep blue water, Evelyn moved fast.
She stepped forward with remarkable speed and grabbed Victoria's wrist tightly in mid-air.
With a swift motion, Evelyn forced Victoria's hand back over the stone poolside deck.
A sharp slap sound echoed across the patio as Evelyn struck Victoria's cheek cleanly.
Evelyn: How dare you try to destroy my daughter's final legacy!
Victoria gasped loudly and stumbled backward, clutching her bright red left cheek in shock.
The diamond ring slipped safely from her open fingers directly into Evelyn's waiting hand.
Victoria: You hit me! Officer, you saw her assault me right now!
Officer Miller: I saw a grandmother retrieving stolen property from a criminal suspect.
The junior officer grabbed Victoria's arms firmly and clicked the handcuffs around her wrists.
Victoria shrieked in anger as the cold metal locked tight around her hands behind her back.
Officer Miller: Victoria Davis, you are under arrest for child cruelty and felony theft.
