Three months later, the sun shone brightly over the Sterling family estate on the green hills outside Dallas. The large brick mansion sat peacefully surrounded by oak trees and blooming flower beds. Lily: Mommy, look at how high I can swing!
Nora: Hold on tight with both hands, sweetie!
Nora sat on a wooden bench in the backyard, watching Lily laugh on the swing set. The little girl was wearing a simple blue suns dress, her scraped knee completely healed without a single scar. Her freckled cheeks were bright with health and happiness as she kicked her legs into the clear blue sky. Arthur walked down the brick path carrying a light Manila envelope. He smiled as he saw Lily waving at him from the swing. He walked over to Nora and set the envelope down on the small patio table.
Nora: Is that the final court paperwork?
Arthur: Signed and stamped by the state supreme court trustee division.
Nora: Everything is closed?
Arthur: Everything is clean. The company board elected a new independent director today, and Lily's trust is fully secured until her twenty-fifth birthday.
Nora picked up the papers and looked at the bold official seals at the bottom of the page. The legal fight was officially over. Her daughter's future was safe, and their home was protected from the greedy hands that had tried to tear them apart. She looked up at the legal counselor who had stood by their side through every dark moment.
Nora: I don't even know how to thank you, Arthur.
Arthur: You don't need to thank me, Nora. You fought for your child with everything you had. That is what won this case.
Lily: Mr. Arthur! Come watch me jump off the swing!
Arthur: Be careful there, young lady!
Nora: Go ahead, show him how high you can go!
Lily pushed herself higher into the air, her happy laughter floating through the warm Texas breeze. Nora stood up and walked over to the swing set, wrapping her arms around her daughter as the swing slowed down.
