Two days later, the board members gathered in the boardroom.
Gwen and her father sat at the far end of the long table.
Gwen wore a dark red dress and looked very confident.
Her father looked down his nose at Diego's empty seat.
Gwen's Father: Diego does not have the votes to stop us today.
Gwen: He destroyed his own future for a simple maid.
Victoria sat nearby looking pale and visibly nervous.
She knew the truth about the hidden company shares now.
The heavy double doors of the boardroom swung open wide.
Diego walked into the room dressed in a sharp navy suit.
Beside him walked Sarah, wearing an elegant business suit.
Paulina walked between them holding both of their hands tightly.
Gwen stood up from her chair with extreme anger.
Gwen: Why is that maid bringing a child into our meeting?
Diego: Watch your tone when speaking about my business partner.
The board members began whispering to each other immediately.
Gwen's father slammed his hand on the wooden table.
Gwen's Father: She is an employee, not a corporate partner!
Mr. Vance stepped forward and placed official documents down.
Mr. Vance: Miss Sarah holds forty percent of total voting stock.
Mr. Vance: Combined with Diego's stock, they hold majority control.
Gwen's father turned entirely red as he read the papers.
Gwen's Father: This is impossible, those shares were revoked years ago!
Mr. Vance: They were illegally hidden by Victoria, not revoked.
Victoria lowered her head and stayed completely silent now.
Gwen stared at Sarah in total defeat and utter confusion.
Gwen: You were just cleaning my shoes three days ago!
Sarah: And today I own the company that owns your building.
The board members stood up and began clapping their hands.
Gwen grabbed her designer purse from the table in rage.
Gwen: Let us leave right now, dad!
Gwen and her father marched out of the boardroom fast.
Diego looked down at Paulina, who was smiling brightly.
Paulina: Are we going home now, Daddy?
Diego: Yes, sweetie, we are going home right now.
